Ha, yeah I figured that one. Did you catch the one (I think it was in the 1st half) where one of our players (can't remember who) blocked Kobe clean, then Kobe jumped around for 3 seconds and screamed, and then as all the players were heading the other way, the ref calls the foul! We're talking a good 3-5 seconds go by before they even call the foul, and it's only after Kobe throws a tantrum.

Oh I did indeed. Kobe was jumping around like a 5 year old and Aminu already had the rebound.
    Wherehappens.

Tim Donaghy, the former N.B.A. referee who pleaded guilty to conspiring with gamblers, said he never rigged basketball games. “The big question on everyone’s mind is, ‘Did Tim Donaghy fix games?’ ” he wrote in his book, “Personal Foul,” which will be released Friday. “The answer is no. I didn’t need to fix them. I usually knew which team was going to win based on which referees had been assigned to the game, their personalities, and the relationships they had with the players and coaches of the teams involved.” New York Times
Donaghy describes in detail how referees favored players they liked and penalized those they disliked, often influencing the outcome of games. Fewer fouls were called on marquee players because the league and fans wanted them in the game, not on the bench, he said. “We would never call these types of fouls on superstars, just on the average players who didn’t have star status,” Donaghy wrote, referring to small infractions. “It was important to keep the stars on the floor.” New York Times
Donaghy said he received thousands of dollars in cash at diners and airports, including the time he received $6,000 at the Philadelphia airport. “I started stuffing wads of cash into my socks and underwear and quietly passed by the T.S.A. agents with a grin on my face and a sigh of relief,” he wrote. New York Times
Since we are complaining about Refs might as well post a Donaghy quote.

Ok, so let me see if I'm seeing this right. The ref that was closest to Kobe who Kobe was pleading to for the call didn't call it so the one almost near the Hornets' bench called it? Looks like an awful late whistle seeing as the Hornets looked like they were getting ready to go to the other end of the court. My goodness.

That leads me to another excerpt from Donaghy's book...

If a player of Kobe's stature collides with the likes of Raja Bell, the call will almost always go for Kobe and against Bell. As part of our ongoing training and game preparation, NBA referees regularly receive game-action video tape from the league office. Over the years, I have reviewed many recorded hours of video involving Raja Bell. The footage I analyzed usually illustrated fouls being called against Bell, rarely for him. The message was subtle but clear — call fouls against the star stopper because he's hurting the game.
    SMH.

That's pretty bad. Won't go up for review, just swept under the rug.

And that was only the 1st quarter. It got worse as the night went on. Not surprising in the least.

As a lot of them are. Or, they'll come out and say the wrong call was made. But of course by the time they do that, the game is already over. Officials have nothing to lose.

Yeah. I can't remember at what point in the 1st that I turned it off because I could already see how it was going and what was going to happen. I'm sorry but I just don't like seeing my team deliberately being hosed time after time.

I'm glad those highlights stopped on Vasquez's dumbest play of the game...
