Thread: Trey Burke

Look at Tim Hardaway and his stats. They are built the same, and probably equally as quick. I would take a Hardaway clone on this team like yesterday.

Also people need to stop saying he isnt athletic, burke is nba point guard athletic, no question, is he russel westbrook? no but who is? He is more athletic than guys like cp3 and rondo IMO. also if u look at his build he isnt skinny, he is very muscular which makes up for his 6ft height.

I keep reminding people that Paul was a poor on ball defender at Wake and in his 1st few years with us. He didn't commit until after his 1st time on the Olympic team(same with LeBron. Hell even Carmelo played a little D that following season).

Exactly. Another thing I like about Burke is how smart he is. He already does the CP3 move of slowing down and keeping defenders behind him just with his body. And his handle is excellent. Dude was getting around tough pressure like it was barely there. With more time and experience, he could be real special with the rock.

agreed, paul was NOT good at on ball defense, people thought he was because his steals were glorified.

Steals aren't glorified. If you can't stop a bigger or quicker man, help should arrive. Right before it does, peel off to the proper passing lane and steal the ball. Either that or pick their pocket.

Paul played lanes like none other.

Lol I didn't say he was bad defensively. I didn't convey what I meant well, but he seems to do a LOT on offense. Just a ton of things where you can see his impact where on D, you can't really see it like so. He seems to put everything and then some offense. Sort of showing off it seems. Heck some of his shot selections aren't really that great. In fact one game winner during the tournament he took a really, really dumb shot he made it but he could have definitely stepped in some lol maybe someone will get where Im coming from.

So the run down block last night wasn't enough effort? He had a few deflections as well that may of not ended in a steal, but it showed his ability to read the offense and see what's coming.

I became more of a fan of Burke after last night.

If you're not a fan of Burke now, you'll never be.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Not true. If he learns how to throw lobs to Davis, he'll be the favorite around here. Let's hope we get to see that connection.
