I just did this 3 times and each time it gave me Trey Burke. The first 2 times it was at #6, 3rd time it was at #7.
I'll be honest. Not really feeling Smart either. But it's also because I've watched him so little.
I did it once, had us pick Burke with 6th pick, with Bazz and Len on board still.
According to Chad Ford's mock draft we will pick up Burke after Detroit picks Oladipo. Hope Detroit doesn't screw us over again two years in a row.
I kinda don't want Burke. He is good, but I think he is too small, and not quick enough for the NBA. Plus I want us tobgive Rivers a chance. We should move up the draft by trading Gordon, Vasquez and Lopez for kemba walker, Henderson, and the number 1 pick.

Burke didn't have any problems getting by Smith last night. He's an NBA level athlete who is projected to be a good defender in the league. Some people just loves parroting.
When the last time you saw Rivers run by someone? I don't think he ever has. Other wise he would actually made some layups this year.
River's shot form is terrible.
Burke has great handles, and the craftiness to keep people off him, not to mention, a shooter's stroke ready for NBA range. Also, he's plays the game smarter. Burke is a way better prospect than Rivers.
T. Burke is the way to go and let Rivers develop as a G. In two years, you'll have an explosive and fast 1-2 punch at back court.
Quicker probably not faster though. Burke is fast as hell in the open court. Once again not Lawson or Wall(few are) fast but he'll be one of the faster guards with the ball in the league IMO ofcourse.
Burke's a better shooter, passer, ball handler(not just dribbling), is proven running a pro style offensive, and seem to have a much higher basketball IQ. And despite being 4.5 to 5 inches shorter his wing span is only 2-2.5 inches shorter. I fail to see where Rivers potential is higher.
Don't forget there were questions about Rivers' athleticism leading up to the draft.
I thought after watching him last night (while sitting out nearly 25% of the game) the world would be converted to Trey Burke as the best pg in the draft.
Guess not.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.
I'm strangely addicted to running that ESPN lotto simulator. I've run it a bunch of times in recent days and those are the results I get also. Smart (usu with a top three pick), then Porter (with a top five pick), then Burke (between about fourth and eighth). I'd be pleased with any of those three. In the last several days I have yet to see the Pels get anyone lower on the board than Burke (even when it has the Pels picking at like 8).
Last week I was getting Oladipo and Shabaz pretty often, but I haven't gotten either of them in a few days.

Rivers is quicker and has better hesiatation dribbles and crossover and is the better defender
Burke is faster and has better ball control, passing and jumpshot
2 totally different players.
It's early but man I'm was blown away with Rivers' on ball defense. Things like that aren't measured in PER. This coming from someone who thinks his max value is a 6th man role. I think it's safe to say he'll be a better on ball defender than Burke. Other than that being quicker and probably a higher vert I would give everything else to Burke.
ya for a player who wasnt known for his defense i was absolutely blown away, Rivers on ball defense is disgusting, i havent seen someone frustrate kobe like that in years, also rivers is only 20 and he is a hard worker, people are gonna get on me for this but i dont care, after the allstar break rivers was shooting something like 45% from 3 and while he doesnt have a mid range game he has a very nice mid range floater, that combined with his ability to get to the basket and his defense i can see him being our russel westbrook/derrek rose, less athletic of course
but like u said his on ball defense is amazing
