Thread: 5th, 6th, or 7th – What the Numbers Say About Where We Will Draft

  1. #26
In recent days when I have done the ESPN lotto it says the Pels take Smart if they get a top three pick, Porter with a top five pick, and Burke or Oladipo with a top eight pick (favoring Burke). That actually sounds about right to me, except I would probably slide Oladipo just ahead of Burke.

We need to lose this one.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

From what I am learning about the top 10 players, there is not much differents between their level of skills.

    No, we don't.

If we want a realistic chance of acquiring a top five pick, we do.

Pick at 5 or pick at 7. There's no real difference unless there's one player in particular you're after.

All the same, the lotto balls will fall where they may. If we lost games that we "needed" to lose last year and were slotted with the 3rd best lotto odds instead of the 4th, someone else would've wound up with Anthony Davis.

Play hard, every game. Leave the rest up to fate/God/Doctor Who.

I understand where you're coming from. But personally, there are six players in particular that I want. In all likelihood, those players will be selected in some order with picks #1-6 (H247 did a piece on this). That's why I'm so bent on passing Detroit for the fifth worst record.

Any player from a pool of McLemore, Noel, Smart, Shabazz, Porter, or Oladipo...yes, please.

If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Someone could always pull a Cleveland and take a guy like Dion Waiters a lot higher than we expect. Like if Glenn Robinson comes out and someone reaches a lil'.

It isn't set in stone who is going where. Hell, the draft order isn't even set yet, let alone the lottery.

    Don't worry so much.

IT doesn't matter if we end up with 5,6, or 7. We will end up with a value pick. People are so concerned about positions when the prospects are all pretty close to each other in that range.

Also, Pel, you forgetting about Anthony Bennett? And, though I don't care for Zeller or Len, who is to say some other GM does too?

I hope WE don't, but that's another thing.

Trey Burke.. CJ Mcollum.. Jeff Whitey..Doug McDermott

Literally the only 4 guys in the draft that i truly like. Either pick Burke or trade back for 2 of the other 3.
