Davis hasn't gained (significant) weight since being drafted

    Fun story :
    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--ho...013933022.html

Despite the calories and carbohydrates acquired with each meat lover's slice, Davis, a slender 6-foot-11, 220-pounder, has not gained much weight since being drafted No. 1 overall last year. Davis says his high metabolism is keeping him from picking up pounds.
    Interesting

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Davis hasn't gained weight since being drafted

"Boozer made a point of trying to hurt him, basically," Williams said. "He just tried to smash him every play. I thought, 'This could be ugly for him if he doesn't get stronger.' I started talking to him about, 'Right now you have to use your quickness because you can't out-strength these guys.'

No it clearly says he didn't.

An extra 15 pounds of muscle, including around seven in the upcoming offseason, is Williams' target for Davis.
Confirmation boys. We now know what the team is planning for Davis and it looks like they don't want him to gain too much weight.

It says he has not gained "MUCH" weight, what are u not understanding? No weight and much weight are different, if I was 6"11 and gained 5 pounds i would consider that not much weight.

Exactly why I posted it. We discuss this so much !

Davis, whose weight training regimen includes lifting on game days, has been as high as 226 pounds this season, says Daniel.
He gained weight. He's just isn't maintaining it due to his metabolism.

Jesus Christ this board is nauseating. Like you want to argue over this ? Argue with yourself man. Take your apprehension elsewhere. It was a fun story, as i said in the original post and i posted it. Sorry he may have gained a few ounces in the last hour and it's not scientifically accurate.

He has gained some muscle from his Kentucky days, he no longer wear short sleeves. Gaining weight is not easy as I am trying at school weightlifting three days a week. It take a while.

Also, looking at your post and vocabulary, I would think you're the last person that should be attacking someone's diction. It was a fun story, as i said in the original post and i posted it. Also have to take into account that he's still getting taller AND you can't really keep up weight training during the season like talking about.

Just want people to be ready and not freak out if at the end of summer you only see more muscle definition than weight gained.. Especially if he grows another half inch.

I thought the article was very encouraging honestly. They have a plan and its pretty transparent. I've always thought Aldridge was a good comparison.

They better not rush weight on him. I wouldn't expect to see anything significant for another 4 years when he's about 24. Wanting him to add 15 pounds over one summer might be a bit unnatural and make him prone to injury.

Guys he just turned 20 right? He is young and has a high metabolism. Will slow down eventually as he gets older.

No. They're trying to get him on an appropriate diet. They're not trying to get him to gain fat, they're trying to get him to gain mass and muscle mass.

The author of this article obviously has never tried to put on muscle. It is literally impossible to gain muscle during the season. Davis doesn't have the down time to train properly and rest/repair. His metabolism is through the roof right now trying to take on an 82 game season for the 1st time. Once things slow down, and he isn't playing a game every other day, he'll put on muscle no problem.

People don't realize that there are 2 phases: gaining and cutting. You can't do both. Right now, Davis' body is in cutting mode, but this off season, he'll be able to go into gaining mode. He'll also be eating a lot more, which is really the only way go gain mass.

Obviously, Krispy Kreme isn't the way to go, but I would wager that Davis will be taking in around 6,000 calories this off season trying to gain weight. Because his metabolism is so high, he needs A LOT of calories. Body builders consume around 8,000 calories per day. A buddy of mine gained 30 lbs over 1 summer eating 8,000 calories per day, with out the use of HGH or steroids. True story. Davis can put on 15-20 lbs this summer, but he can't do it during the season.

Almost always, when you add muscle, you add a little fat, but what little fat he puts on this off season trying to gain weight, he'll cut in 2-3 weeks during training camp/pre-season.
