Hold up! You mean to tell me, we will now attract free agents because of our location and city, and we couldn't when we had CHRIS PAUL!!! The second most unselfish superstar after LeBron? Come on Monty. We get FA's when we overpay. See Peja. See Nnamdi still ain't picked our football team yet and the Saints have a TITLE! It's gonna come down to money. Always have and always will.

People saying "remember me this summer." Ha ha ha ha ha!

Yeah, whatever. Most likely over the hill Vets looking for a fool to give them that one last big contract.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Hmm who should I trust. Some fan or the guy that got tapped on the shoulder. So tough.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

The situation is totally different then when CP3 was here. We have a owner, a long term lease, new practice facility, renovations to the arena. Plus we have some nice pieces with money to spend, and a lot of players like Monty and Dell. And you bring up Nnamdi as one example but do you know how many players take pay cuts to come play for the Saints.

Both. He didnt give names as to the players tapping his shoulders, and we didnt exactly have the world beating down our doors this past summer when we had money.

Good question, do you know how many players take pay cuts to come play for the Saints?

Yeah, we really overpaid for that Ryan Anderson character. Same deal with that Lopez guy. What in the world was Dell thinking!?!?!?

That would be illegal.... You are just being cynical.

Answer: All of them (including Brees, who could have asked for even more than he did).

Why can't both be the case? We have a nice young core, great city and tons of money.

    Just sayin.

I am not being cynical. I am going off of past precedent. Nothing cynical about calling it what it is.

Brees took a pay cut to play for the Saints? That pay cut sure is balling the Saints now huh? The only guy in Sports who has taken a pay cut to play for a team is LBJ. NPR did an article about him last month. When he left Cleveland the franchise dropped in value by 20% while Miami's franchise went up 20%. Now that's a guy being underpaid.

NO still can't compete with the Glamor Markets, but it's surely better than Detroit, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Toronto, etc.

Money and Minutes are the top factors, but when similar offers are on the table then organization and location will become factors.

Most likely over the hill Vets looking for a fool to give them that one last big contract.
Yeah, I can't imagine a guy at the top of the FA list will be campaigning. But the Saints have developed a reputation for letting the best players play regardless of draft position, which probably puts them at the top of the list for UDFAs, I'm sure the stories of Vasquez, Lopez, Thomas and Roberts will help the Pelicans have their pick of guys wanting to prove themselves, which isn't a bad thing if you know how to pick the guys that are both hungry and good.

Last year was a bad year for anyone to want to come here, but we still got Anderson (who wasn't exactly going to blow up free agency but still a valueable addition). I don't think Monty is lying, and i think you're saying he's full of bull? Saying he's making a bold face lie to look good. Why would he bring it up to lie about it? Doesn't seem like that type of man. I also don't doubt some mid level guys are wanting to come here. Monty has a very good rep with his players and former players. It's things like we did for Jack and even Paul (sending him to a favorable situation that he'd be happy with) that get good marks from players.

In all fairness when Chris Paul was here we had the amazing George Shinn and Jeff Bower running the show followed up by the mastermind GM and Owner by the name of......*crickets*.... Now i can see why people would want to come to NoLa, we have a likeable coach and owner who is the complete oppposite of Shinn, new facilities and most important factor to me is that not only do we have a FRANCHISE young baller BUT he is the type of player that will not try to command all of the shine. Other stars can come in and produce at a high/higher level because the number two guy is a player that doesnt even have to have sets run just for him and will still put up solid numbers at the end of the night
Saints, Pelicans, Tigers, Braves, and PS3 (NinthWardJay is the PSN)

Why would he bring it up that kind of answer? Why would the reporter ask that sort of question? Are the fans feeling a bit restless and feeling uneasy about the man at the helm?

I am just saying, if he is looking to temper the waters, those are great responses, but if we come up short on free agent signings fans will probably be more vocal. Or maybe they won't.

Let's not assume we know the context that made Monty say this. We don't know exactly what the reporter asked Monty.

Every single player they have signed this offseason was offered more elsewhere.

Brees did get too greedy for my taste, but still could've asked for a lot more. Hell now Romo has the same deal as Brees.

I do not follow. So since we aren't sure of the context we shouldn't predict we know the truthfulness in his words? Ask me if I am a Lakers fan at gun point and I will say what you want. Get me when a gun isn't pointed at me, and I will tell you no.

I will wait til the summer to eat my crow.

Butler, Coleman, McCown, and Watson were offered more elsewhere? Can we see reports of this or is this one of those " take my word" type deals?

If I know I'll be looking for a job this summer, you can bet I'd give a tap to the coach of any team that has a bunch of cap space and big fancy new practice facility. All the other stuff (good coach, up and coming team) is lagniappe when I'm trying to get paid.

I forgot about McCown, but Lewis, Butler, and Watson have all said so in interviews.

Lol why can't people want to come here now? Maybe it's more than what he said to it than just our city. We have AD and a team with potential plus Monty is well liked and respected. He did say he basically talked Ryno into coming here, he had to say more than what is being quoted right even though it could play into it.

I believe the Lewis part, but Butler peddled his wears in 7 NFL cities before he decided on us. Watson, he is at the end of a great career. With every NFL team being cash strapped I am sure he took less.. He didnt have any other options throwing money at him that provided the same chance to win.

Either way, I need to see it to believe it. Half of our roster probably won't be here in a year so it's hard to sell " we have a team full of potential" other than the potential of your teammates not being here in a year.

What did the reporter ask Monty?
