Question Overall Thoughts on Anthony Davis' First Year?

With the season winding down, how do you feel about AD's first year? Does it change your thoughts on what he was projected to become?

I have to say I am extremely excited about what the guy has shown. 13.3ppg, 8.0 rpg, and 1.7 bpg are good numbers alone, but when you consider the sometime erratic playing time and the fact that we really don't run too many sets for him and his PER of 21.62 I really think he is going to be a special player. I think with more talent on the floor and a year under his belt being an all-star next year isn't out of the question.

Curious as to what people think?

If he was getting the same 38 minutes a game that damian lilliard is getting he would be averaging 18-12-4 and he is 3 years younger, ya im very happy with him.

super surprised how much more polished he was offensively than everyone thought, and he's still just scratching the surface

I pretty much agree with your thoughts. Hopefully this offseason he'll put in some work on the court (maybe work on a go to move or two) and in the weight room. He gets stronger and hopefully that will help him be a bit more durable. Is he still growing? If those growth plates are still open, the guy might come back next season a full 7' tall.

Agreed, I thought all he could do was dunk, he has nice dribbles, a nice layup, nice soft touch around the basket and a nice midrnage and FT

I honestly think even this year the ROY reace is a lot closer than people think. Lillard has good numbers but AD is much more efficient and his numbers really aren't too much lower. I think the difference may be record, which I don't understand but I honestly hope he gets some consideration.

Quietly, hes had an outstanding season. A couple of stretches around mid season that I attribute to the grind of the longest season of his young life. He even came back from injuries playing consistent, though not spectacular basketball. Lilliard probably deserves the ROY.. but Davis has been a revelation. We can throw the Marcus Camby comparisons out the door. We are officially looking some Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnettish defensive long limbed hybrid. I mean 14 points a game with no plays, no go to moves, no nothing.. thats impressive.

Just imagine what he'd look like playing next to Demarcus Cousins...!

Nice dribbles? Don't know about that.

He's impressed me with his touch around the basket and his jumper is more consisted than what I thought. However my feeling about his long term potential hasn't changed much. I still don't see a guy with the ball skills to be a go to player.

For a 7ft power forward? Yes, very nice dribble, drive and layup no questions about it, i mean he's no drummond though, that guy can dribble better than cp3 or kyrie.

exactly, i dont care how good people think he is at dribbling and driving, until he improves his FT his offensive is negated, he is shooting 35% from the FT line...

    But Drummond does?

You need to watch more closely. It is easy to see how talented he is, especially in terms of "ball skills." The guy has a really nice handle for a 6'10-6'11 big who is still growing and still needs to get used to his new body. He comes off screens like a guard would, he has great shooting form, range out to 18 feet, a real nice jump hook, great touch around the rim, solid passing ability.... What more do you want? You are just being stubborn and can't admit you were wrong. Let it go man, you are reaching, and it's not working for you.

I'm guessing he's security or an usher. The seating looked kind of compact and tight down there. I think he's behind Kevin and he's looking over Kevin's shoulder.

A lot of his problems will go away once he's not small enough for just about any big to knock around. Once he gets some more meat on his bones and his muscles mature up, he'll be a force.

Lol the dude can't dribble or create his own shot. I rather be stubborn than **** ride any day. I've given credit where it's due.

You mean stubborn like people bringing up Drummond when he has nothing to do with the discussion?

I see Davis as a true game changer. Secures rebounds, crazy length and athleticism, good defense, and a developing midrange.
