Well it's been obvious he's one of the worst FT shooters in the league, still has alot of potential to be an elite center.

His problems are correctable. Doesn't bend at the knees and has a hitch in his shooting motion. Not sure why anybody up until now hasn't address the issues, but having broken form at the FT line theoretically should be the easiest thing in basketball to fix. You can take your time and focus on shooting correctly.

Woaw... 2 airballs? I don't know if that's "correctable". Some guys shot like crap for their entire career from the line, and I know for sure they practiced free throw shooting.

Completely random but if you multiply the 9th and 10th spots of the draft to get 90, the FT %'s of Austin Rivers and Andre Drummond add roughly to 90%

    Drummond free throws

Imagine how hard it can be to drain a shot with a nerf ball on a mini goal in your bedroom. That's what it's like for most of these guys. Dwight, Rondo, DeAndre, Drummond, etc. their hands are so large that it gives them little control for accuracy. Pretty sure that's what really hurts em.

While I'm sure having huge mitts hurt shooting FT's it no excuse. They're plenty of players who has big hands and are decent FT shooters.

Hand size has nothing to do with free throw shooting. It has no correlation what-so-ever to free throw shooting. None. If it did, then someone with small to average size hands who has never touched a basketball before could shoot free throws better than someone with large hands who plays every day.

It's just primarily players who lack jump shooting ability that can't shoot free throws. Those players typically happen to be Centers and play the majority of the game in the paint. Anthony Davis is a decent free throw shooter because he was a guard several years ago and still warms up before games like a guard.

Free throw shooting has 100% to do with repetition. That's all it is. Confidence is a factor since you're just standing there by yourself with everyone watching you, but it's still all about repetition.

The reasons that are being given for Drummon suckish Ft shooting is terrible. If its so easy to fix free throw shooting why Shaq hasn't when he tried his whole career, **** look at Dwight. Drummond will get better eventually, but he still will be a below average FT shooter, I hope the best for the guy and his career as I do for everyone who makes it into the league, but the excuse for Drummon is one sided IMO, he'll be a Deandre Jordan at best. Wish em well tho.
2013-1014 is the season the Pelicans fanbase grows!!!!

I see what you mean but I've heard shooting coaches themselves tell me hand size can truly affect shooting.

I don't know man. Back in my day, I was the best shooter on my team, bar none. But when I got to the line, I always bricked em. It was miserable. I didn't know why. My form wasn't great so that may have had a lot to do with it. Maybe it was confidence, nerves. I dunno.

I find that shooting FTs in games, with adreneline running, you have to adjust your shot slightly otherwise you overshoot everytime. Nerves have something to do with it as well.

I'd take AD #1 in this draft every day of the week. But if we drafted over, Drummond is the number 2 every time and it ain't even close.

Okafor practiced FT's as much as anyone else in practice, and he never got any better.

It's not always how many you shoot as much as it's about how you shoot them. If you have deficiencies in your form than of course you won't improve much. If he shot with excellent form and was still putting up air balls I wouldn't say that was something correctable.
