Del Demps was asked this question today at a luncheon for season ticket holders held in the Saints cafeteria at the Saints facility. He said that Greivis Vasquez was unequivocally the team leader on the floor. His talk about Vasquez sounded to me like Vasquez was definitely in the plans for the future either as main pt guard, backup pt guard, or playing along side with someone else at point, and they are not going to trade him. Liked Jack last year but his contract was running out and Jack wanted to get a big contract. Hornets were moving in a different direction but they wanted to put Jack in a good situation and traded him to the Warriors.
He also said he was pleased with the development of the young guys. Last year, would not have believed that Roberts could have 18 assists in a game - was more than his total assists in games he was scouted in.
Lunch was great there, cafeteria style. Hornets players are definitely going to like that amenity. Meals have to be brought in at the Alario Center. There may been a few Saints players at lunch - recognized Garrett Hartley. Mr. Benson was also having lunch there.
New training facility may be ready by July and will the the largest in the NBA. Demps traveled to 9 different facilities and took the best features of each, along with the Saints training facility. Thanked Mr. Benson for allowing him to do that. Lots of construction going on - looks huge. Admin offices going up on one side of a parking lot with players facility going up on the other side next to a building and outdoor field that used to be for the Voodoo.
The win over Denver last night was one of his favorite wins.
