I guess getting the fans pumped up with a win in a sold out arena isn't worth much.

Moral is important for the young guys... winning helps bring up moral. Wizards and Bobcats constantly suck and lose games... they always look forward to the draft. That mentality is effective, right? A little momentum goes a long way in marketing the team (to FAs... to new fans... to the league itself to get more national exposure).

No I meant he and Rivers won't be playing in Friday's game. Not that they won't be with the team long term.

If you are talking short term yes. However do we really think 2 years from now a team that has 8 or 9 new players. Will at some point in the season look back at how Davis and Anderson were able to catch a team over looking us(which happens quite often in the NBA)because we certainly aren't their equals talent wise and think yeah we can use that to build on? I just disagree. It'll feel good, but they'll be plenty of ups and downs between now and what this roster will look like in say 2 or 3 years.

IMO this will mean way more to us the fans than it will this organization itself.

Considering we lack a robust fanbase, this game does mean a lot for the organization. I think you can make a few or those Miami heat fans at least attend more Hornets games and become "supporters" if you win.

I'm not talking what this does for players not here. Davis and Anderson would benefit greatly from beating the Heat, I think. Why should I care what this game does to players not even here? I don't think I said that would have any affect. It's about our young guys building that belief that in this system they can beat the best, playing their best. This is as close as a playoff game we are going to have this year and probably next year.

For the heat we need Anthony Davis to be in for 37 min. We need ryno to knock down the 3s and to penetrate in the paint. We need an active Gordon. We need greivis to let the offensive end flow. Aminu stops LeBron and bye bye streak for the heat

Wrong!!!! We need Roberts running the point just as he did vs the nuggets. We need Vasquez to run the 2nd unit effectively. Minus hero ball.

Vasquez can play hero ball on the second unit. That won't be an issue.

I would like it, but I do want to see Heat make history, as that said, I dont understand how we went 2-1 last week and went down 6 spots in the Power Rankings... but the previous week we were actually lower but it still says we dropped 6 spots from 26 to 22 -__- ESPN

I think the benefit to the organization is that a 5 game winning streak against playoff teams would take the heat off of Monty this summer. Things were starting to get ugly after the loss to the Lakers. He'll still have to produce next season, but if the Hornets had kept winning ping pong balls the summer story lines probably would have revolved around Monty. Whether that's worth a few slots in the draft remains to be seen, but I think this current win streak might be the difference between the offseason focus of media and fans being on future hope or past failures.

I believe he meant, and it says, "16" to 22.

I want us to win because I want to end the streak. I doubt that this anythingnfornthe team other than lose them lotto balls. This roster is so transient, the boost in moral wont be felt by like 3 or 4 guys on next years roster (if you can even calculate something like that).
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

I try not to get too excited for stuff like this, but I'm tired of seeing the Heat succeed. I don't like LeBron, I think he's an ***, but he's still the best player in the world. I'm tired of seeing all the hype about "The Streak". And I would love to see my team end it all.

With that said, if we hypothetically end the streak, I feel we wouldn't get the respect. It would be more about the Heat losing then us ending it.

That's exactly how it would be played off...don't you worry. It has happened before.

Luckily (or unluckily (both)) I don't have ESPN with my apartment's cable package so I have no clue. But I distinctly remember last year when were the first team to stop Linsanity...I was in awe. Bruce Bowen seemed like the only analyst who actually watched the game and acknowledged that hey, the Hornets played a great game and flat outplayed the Knicks...give them props. Everyone else had your run of the mill sensationalized sports media reaction. Worst one was Magic Johnson, who made the excuse that Jeremy Lin was tired.

It does work both ways though. Lakers game from a few weeks ago. "OMGZZZZ Lakers!!!! Kobe!!! Awesome!!!" Good effort on the comeback but it doesn't happen without an epic fail of a collapse from the Hornets.
