Set us back however many years an oft injured max contract player sets you forward.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

You want to offload a burden (in your eyes) for another burden (we would almost surely take some salary back). Like Gordon or not he is one of the two potential allstars on this team. Oladipo may turn out to be a solid player, but he will not set the world on fire his first season. This basically ensures another tank. Idk what the obsession is with drafting at one of the two positions we are set at.
I think some people won't be satisfied at a position unless the guy is a HOF talent.

    Oladipo has no range....oh wait.

    Oladipo with the huge 3!

Has Gordon (in his entire career) ever played 50% of the season? I hope we aren't foolish enough to build around him.

I don't think there's any other legit option.

If Gordon is healthy, he's what the team needs to compete for a championship in a few years. Unfortunately, that's a big if. If the team gets rid of him, they're going to be looking to bring in someone that's the same as what he can do when he's healthy. There just aren't that many players out there, let alone available, to just give Gordon away.

The draft is often a crap shoot beyond the top few picks. Personally, I think unless the Hornets either a) Get the #1 pick to draft McLemore, or b) Find some team out there willing to give a very good player for Gordon (which won't happen), then the best option is to stick with Gordon and hope for the best.

I like that kid. He stayed on Wyatt for the end of the game for sure and he got nothing after that. Idk though.

Yes he has and he's only 24. He's also proven his talent in the NBA. You dont get rid of young proven talent for an unknown. That's just dumb. You can have both but if you only have one, it better not be the rook.

  11. #1311
He has proven to be Michael Redd.

Solid #2 but not a guy you can count on to lead a team. He has been good for 56 games a year (on average) and rock solid for about 3/4 of those.

You can't compare Redd to Gordon.

Take it with a grain of salt. This is from the same guy who thinks Vasquez is elite.

Exactly there arent that many SG better than Gordon and a couple of the great ones are beginning to decline. I swear at this point people look for every little thing to criticize him (remember when he bruised his wrist and missed one game?). I swear after that this board had a nuclear meltdown; everybody wanted to ship him for Klay Thompson and Biedrins... Ewww. Dont get me wrong; he deserves some flak for not staying in shape and not taking care of his knee in the offseason. It just seems like people are looking for every possible reason to hate him.

Who said GV is elite? I said he was top 20 for his position.

Gordon is off injured, and if he is lucky enough to have a Redd like career we will be in the black on that CP3 trade.

I am not one for advanced stats and all but some of you guys are.

For all this talk of Gordon being on the cusp of being elite, his PER sure doesnt tell that story.

Pfft... Michael Redd. Its alright to defend Vazquez but when you say EJ is Michael Redd your getting reeeeediculous. Its almost like you dont want to be taken seriously.

When that young proven talent has serious problems staying healthy you do. Not to mention we only have two more guaranteed years with Gordon which really is one if he indeed rather play somewhere else.

Once again Gordon has yet to prove he can be the type of player that can carry the scoring load for a playoff caliber team.

This is by far his worst season... Christ man at least come up with some decent evidence.

His last healthy season 2010-2011 (how pathetic does that sound. We have to reach back 2 seasons for a healthy season.) he had the 6th best PER among sg's.

He was bettered by Kevin Martin and Lou Williams. Confidence not instilled in this elite at talk.

    Bingo!

    Somebody gets it.

And who is talking about defending GV here, so why bring him up? Must be a strawman tactic.

How many years has he been a Hornet? How many games has he played? Really it doesn't take much to dislike the guy with all the nonsense this offseason(for the record that didn't bother me), but what matter are the facts. He gets injured all the time and has yet to prove he has the talent and/or leadership skills to get a team even in contention for the playoffs.

That can be said of many very good players man. There are plenty of very talented players who get big deals and have never sniffed the playoffs. The roster itself is just not there yet. You dont trade Gordon for trash when we are not a free agent destination to begin with. We dont need capspace, and if we did gordons contract runs out at the same time as our big name players anyway.

Even when he has played this season he hasn't taken over like people talk him up to. He is a good sg, but he is replaceable. One doesn't go from being injury riddled their entire career to being healthy 6 years into it.

You skip over the biggest issue with Gordon in this comment his health issues.

Who said we trade him for trash? Of course if the best deal you can get for him is a mid to late draft pick or just warm bodies to match contract you don't do that. However if we can get something like PHX unprotected first or a big like Enes Kanter/Derrick Favors just for example that's most certainly isn't trash.
