It's certainly no guarantee, but I do think that this team contends for a playoff spot next year barring any major injuries. OKC is one of the few teams I think you can really compare this team to anyway. Trading away / losing star players (Chris Paul & David West / Ray Allen & Rashard Lewis), getting lucky in the lottery to draft a superstar prospect (Anthony Davis / Kevin Durant), and putting a star caliber guard next to him (Eric Gordon / Russell Westbrook).

Then again... everything went OKC's way in terms of player growth & injuries. The exact opposite happened for Portland in regards to Roy & Oden.

I think the core pieces are already here with the potential to add another one depending where we land in the lottery. Vasquez & Lopez I believe will be traded within a year and a half and it's likely one of them is gone this summer (Vasquez IMO unless the team lands McLemore, then I think they try to trade Gordon).
They're pretty decent after the break. Certainly playoff team worthy.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Well. No one expected Paul George to grow 3 inches over one summer either.

Why doesn't DeShaun Thomas on Ohio St get any talk about being a lottery selection?

True, it shouldnt be expected though. Its not a rule, its an exception. Btw I think its was more 1.5 - 2 inches.

Lack of a true position, questionable work ethic, bad defender.

College yes, NBA lacks a true position. He won't be able to guard NBA threes.

There was nothing good about what Porter did tonight.

Mcdermotts game will translate. He is a smart kid who can score and grab boards. He will have a Brent Barry, Matt Harpring, Martell Webster type career. He won't be amazing, but he will last.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Where is Paul George listed at 6'10"?

George grew like 2 inches. He was 6'8 During the draft but he's really tall now.

    I don't think George is 6'10. 6'9 maybe.

Mcdermot is a knock down shooter, great rebounder, tough as nails, and ha a very high bball iq considerif his dad is a coach.

Imo he can be a step above ryan anderson and more versatile than anderson. Im really high on him and mcollum.

I see the comparison and it could work, no doubt. He could be a second round steal for someone if he comes out.

He'll be a first rounder if he does.

Let him stay another year. Perfect his shot. Win a few more big games. And he will be a mid 1st rounder next year.

McDermott is a poor mans Steve Novak.

Yes he rebounds a bit in college, but he is too slow at the 3 in the NBA and too small to play the 4 efficiently. Hasn't really got any handles and his jumper isn't as good as a Novak or Anderson. He reminds me of Harangody actually.

McDermortt is a knock down shooter and a scorer even in traffic. That's the telling thing about his game. His clear lack of physical gifts will limit him, but I can see him finding a role in the league on offense. Defense on the other hand could be what kills his pro chances.

Novak is strictly a floor spacing jump shooter. McDermott has way more of an offensive arsenal.
