People say this is a weak draft, but I don't see it they are so many players I wouldn't mine having. The only player I want no part of is that Len kid from Maryland

Am I the ONLY one who looks at it as a bad thing when such and such player is 18-19? I do not want another 19 year old. These are the same guys who freak out when we lose and they just wonder why oh why? Oh it must be Monty.
Burke
Oladipo
Porter
Which players have more possibilities to be a Pelican next year? Im not a nig fan of NCAA but I want know better our future Pelican.
Did Monty ever play with Glenn Robinson? Or has Demps? The more I look at a better perimeter shooting, more efficient DeMar DeRozan in Glenn Robinson the more I like him. And we need that offense. Don't know how good he is creating his shot yet though.
He can just score in every way, much like Melo or Paul Pierce.
He can get out in transition, or he can score in the half court. He can take you off the dribble with his first step, he can take you into the post, he can spot up, he can come off screens, you can iso him, he collects offensive boards, he can pull up off the bounce. He can just do it all. Take a look at the video below.

In other words he can just get his own buckets in a way we've scarcely had.
I am a Michigan fan and I have been waiting on this Glenn Robinson for years, but more often than not Burke had o take over games because Robinson III was nowhere to be found in the crunch. But it was nice to see him step up yesterday, but that is far from a trend and not to be expected all the time.
Bazz hasn't been playing with chopped liver. Adams and Wear have been solid all season, but get less pub because they play with Bazz. Dude is good, but he isn't Melo, unless your talking malcontent or something. Watch today what happens vs Minnesota. He will have a fun matchup with Hollins (which he should dominate). Watch as he doesn't have Adams to defer the scoring to. Can he take over and win this game?
If you Jimmer it, they will come.
So one good game makes him Paul George? lol
I definitely think that is possible for him. I don't see him getting anywhere past #8 at best case scenario.
Also, I'm tempering expectations for this offseason. Monty and Dell have consistently said it's a "long" process to building a contender. I really don't see players on the market that are must have guys.
My expectation for next year is eighth seed. A first round series win for the season after that.
I don't think we're a playoff team next year either. You don't go worst 4-> worst 5-> playoffs typically.

So, it looks like Shabazz is 20 and not 19. That sucks.

Well, Shabazz is apparently 20![]()

Not many players in this draft I'd love to have, but also not many I'd be disappointed in having. No Len is all I ask.
Not saying we won't be fighting for one. Just saying I don't think we get one. Jazz could fall if they trade Milsaps and Lose Jefferson. Dallas should be better. Portland should be better. Minn should be better. And I'd say the top OKC, SA, Memphis, Clippers, Lakers (Depending on DH12), Nuggets, Nuggets, Rockets are pretty locked in. That leaves everyone else to fight for 1 spot.
Paul George is 6"10 though...unless you expect GR3 grow 4 inches..
Lakers are already old and slow this year. It will be even worse next year even if Dwight Howard does return. There are some pretty big question marks on some of those other teams as well.
It's certainly no guarantee, but I do think that this team contends for a playoff spot next year barring any major injuries. OKC is one of the few teams I think you can really compare this team to anyway. Trading away / losing star players (Chris Paul & David West / Ray Allen & Rashard Lewis), getting lucky in the lottery to draft a superstar prospect (Anthony Davis / Kevin Durant), and putting a star caliber guard next to him (Eric Gordon / Russell Westbrook).
Then again... everything went OKC's way in terms of player growth & injuries. The exact opposite happened for Portland in regards to Roy & Oden.
I think the core pieces are already here with the potential to add another one depending where we land in the lottery. Vasquez & Lopez I believe will be traded within a year and a half and it's likely one of them is gone this summer (Vasquez IMO unless the team lands McLemore, then I think they try to trade Gordon).
It's really tough to judge players because of how they could grow. People like to throw out ages, but I think how long someone has been in college makes the biggest difference. Otto Porter will probably be picked ahead of Shabazz Muhammad, but if you put them on equal ground Bazz would probably go before Porter. Porter averaged 16 ppg on 49% shooting as a Sophomore, where Shabazz averaged 18 ppg on 45% shooting as a Freshman. You put Sophomore Shabazz against Sophomore Porter, who do you think gets picked first? Porter wasn't really even on anyones radar until he got a summer to grow. Same thing goes for a guy like Oladipo, except he had two summers. You put Junior Gary Harris against Junior Victor Oladipo, who's being picked first? You can also throw Marcus Smart in there, he may only be shooting 41% this season, but you give him a year and where would he be as a Sophomore? Trey Burke only shot 43% as a Freshman.
