I feel like upgrading Greivis would make the biggest impact on this team.

That will be Rivers job in a couple years, we need a glue guy who can do it all at SF and be the piece that makes EVERYONE better, and that is without a doubt Otto Porter, he can do it all

Rivers hasn't shown enough to pass up on Marcus Smart if he's still available. Smart will be the best all around player from this class imo.

Plus I have a dream to have a eight or nine man lineup once we make the playoffs:

    Smart/Rivers
    Gordon/Rivers
    ???/Aminu
    Anderson/Smith
    Davis/Smith

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

I like GV but I have a few issues. First defensively he is a liability, too slow. That puts so much pressure on every other player by allowing guys into the paint and sending us into a help rotation frenzy. Offensively, he can't beat defender off screens and usually pics up dribble in post when he can't find roll guy. I still think he has value but we (Hornets fans) overvalue.

One of my biggest qualms though is he restricts us from getting our max money guy the ball consistently. If we are gonna pay Gordon how we are, we don't need a point guard that struggles to find him or create shots for him. I'm tires of GV trying to be the only clutch option. I agree SF is a huge need and would love to draft porter and sign budinger/brewer. But Pg has to, has to be addressed.

Possibly. I just think in the playoffs you can only afford to have a 8 man rotation with maybe one other player who gives your star a breath for a few minures a game. Rivers seems to perfectly fit that mold of a guy who can relieve your PG and SG.

Agree. I'm still not completely sold on AD playing the 5 but i'll wait a bit before closing my mind to it.

I for one think an upgrade to the PG position (Smart or Burke) would make us a better team starting on day 1.

I see what ur saying and no one is a bigger Smart fan than I am BUT regardless of free agency going into this season would u rather draft smart and have a whole at SF or have rivers at PG and draft otto porter to address SF, anyways I am a big fan of BPA because AD and Rivers wont be able to take over a game for about 4 years, look at durant, his first couple years in the league his team was still terrible but they kept taking the BPA and traded jeff green for perkins and harden for a bunch of depth so on and so on, my point is I agree with u, regardless of position u take BPA because down the road u can always make trades to help ur team.

How would yall feel about drafting Smart or Burke, trading gordon for a SF or C and addressing which ever posotion we dont trade for Gordon get in free agency and look something like this

    Smart or Burke
    Rivers
either free agency or player traded for gordon
    davis/ryno
    traded player or FA/Lopez

Crucial missed free throw by Burke. Indiana wins 72-71.

Well I didn't watch the game but from the looks of it:

Burke - didnt shoot well at all going 7-20 but atleast went 5-8 from 3. Only 4 assists but that could be from missed shots
GR3 - 13 pts 5 reb, shots 75% from the field and 50% from 3, look like he was effective
Oladipo - shot poorly at 7/18 and 0/3 from 3 but grabbed 13 rebounds, dont like how he didnt get to the FT line once
Zeller - looks like he was a beast shooting 50 percent and going for 25pts 10 rebs

Oladipo really hustled hard the entire game, especially when going for the rebound. Him and Zeller crashed the glass every shot and ended up with an extra shot on each possession. The game was very physical as the refs let the players play to an extent. And a lot of those missed shots from Oladipo was under the rim getting punished when he grabbed the loose rebound which was almost every trip.

I was more impressed with Zeller and Oladipo than Burke for the game. Plus Oladipo was asked to guard Burke and I think did a good job. Most of Burke's points came on rotation defense and even still was only 7/20 for the game. Tbh Oladipo reminded me of Aminu with a better shot. He was asked to guard the best guy on the other team, crashed the boards, and got two clutch rebounds / put backs at the very end of the game.

You're assessments are close on Burke and Zeller but not so on GR3 and Oladipo. GR3 was a non factor and disappeared the entire 2nd half. His one chance at the end of the game to put it out of reach possibly he couldn't make the shot under the basket through a hard foul. Oladipo did a lot more than his stat line. He was as impressive as Zeller especially at the end, but he did more on the defensive end.

Burkes is moving up on the draft board and its unlikely we grab him with our 1st pick unless something happens to Greivis, and I dont see us letting him go because of the little leadership abilities he have. But my choice with our 1st pick would be Otto Porter, dude mid-range is crazy, he has the ability to be a solid defender and crazy scorer.

  22. #647
It looks like oladipo really gave burke fits defensively holding burke to just 7/20 from the field, dude is a stud defensively, if he can keep developing his jumper we could see the next dwayne wade

Smart reminds me more of D Wade.

What is it about D-Wade. Every year is seems people say 5 or so players are the "next" d-wade. lol

Smart looks more strong than quick, to me Smart is a mirror image of Harden, not super quick but just like harden can smart can just flat out score because he out muscles people and also is a great passer and rebounder, i say oladipo is like Dwade because wade didnt have that jumpshot coming into the pro's but had the elite athleticism, quickness, first step and defense
