It wasn't like he went to the media tho...this is just some person that saw him having a personal phone call. Its not like he's Rose's brother talking to a reporter or nothing.

But he's a father and has the right to be angry watching his son play well during his 17min then get sat by a coach who lets face it.....is scared to put him out there. There is no other way to describe it.....Monty is coaching scared when it comes to AD. He'll put Rivers out there to take his lumps but he wont let AD do the same and thats BS to me. Miss me with that "oh he's the franchise player you have to be careful and bring him along slow and steady".....AD has led a Kentucky team to a National Championship and has a Gold ****ing medal. I'm pretty sure he can handle whatever is thrown at him during the 4th qtr in the regular season. He's not going to learn how to win if you don't let him go out there and try to do so.

The whole "he's not strong enough yet" excuse is BS too......there were plenty of guys during his time in HS and in college that were stronger...guess what he adjusted and still dominated. Why not let him try to adjust now? That way when he does put on weight he has this whole aresenal of moves to go to. And so what you don't want to put him on Howard. If AD is you best defensive player at that point and you need stops....then come up with another option....thats why you have a bench full of big men to mix and match.

All these excuse are just that excuses......and its becoming tiresome. And if you look at Monty's entire body of work this isn't just a 1 or 2 game thing...this has been a constant problem he has had the entire time he's coached. He doesn't truly know how to.

Monty is a good teacher....when he was an assistant he taught guys, and it was mainly defense.....he wasn't managing games or drawing up plays when he was with the Spurs...that was Pop's or whoever the HC for the Blazers job. If you're not well rounded in your approach to coaching you're going to fail more often than not regardless of talent level.

One example of that is D'Antoni, yeah he has been to the playoffs and coached some good teams....but his defeciancies are put on full display now that he's with the Lakers because he wants to run his system instead of putting guys in a better position to win. He wants to run and gun with a team who is not built for that. He wants there to be scoring and refuses to preach any kind of consistant defense. Lets face it the only reason the Lakers have won as many games as they have is because of Kobe and Kobe alone know why because Kobe has the capacity to coach on the floor and take over a game.

Monty hasn't had that since CP3 left and now he doensn't know what to do. You can give a whole bunch of excuses on how the guys didn't play hard enough or execute or whatever but most of that blame goes on you when you don't put the guys in a better position to execute and win games....thats the whole purpose of being a coach.

As far as AD goes.....you know he's not going to come out and say it because he's young and he's a rookie...but if you know he's going to be great and he's shown that he can be great.....THEN LET THAT MAN BE GREAT!!! Stop holding him back because you're scared...I guarentee you he's not because he's been in those high pressure situations before.

This is the kind of stuff that people don't realize where we have an advantage over large market teams. Could you imagine if AD only got 18 minutes in a game like this for the Knicks?!

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

People don't rage because they'rethinking clearly. It's clearly an emotion and thats how he handled it.

It smacks of playing not to lose. Which is a great way to actually lose.

And it goes beyond just refusing to let Davis get his feelings hurt if he ever had to guard Howard, not like Davis got a block on Howard or anything. It's that he never made adjustments. Dwight Howard is shooting below 50% from the stripe. Why not just start hacking him? Worst case scenario is he turns into Alonzo Mourning and starts making 'em all. What is Smite a Dwight not honorable enough for Monty or something?

Eman, I don't think Monty can answer the hack a Howard situation at all.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but Davis Sr. should shut his mouth and keep his opinion to himself. He's not AD23, He's not Monty and He's not Dell. He's not the medical or traning staff either. His son is a big boy now.

He don't need to keep his mouth shut in this instance. He was on the phone venting and someone heard him and decided to put it in print. It's not like he went to the media with it. Remember, he's new to this NBA thing as well. Perhaps he should watch WHERE he says things because they can easily be picked up on, but he don't need to keep his opinion to himself.

I've seen Davis make impact plays. Impact blocks. Impact putback dunks in transition. Impact drawing fouls. He's a dynamic entity. But that only works if he plays.

Even if we still lose, lose giving the Lakers everything we've got. It incenses me that he'd hold our own player back and call that protecting him while we lose a sizable lead.

I agree. He has every right to be upset (as does every Hornets fan), but he needs to keep it professional and keep it to himself.

What has that got to do with anything? Nothing at all. If I had 2 posts I'd say the same thing. You're totally misdirected here.

Like I said, he has to watch WHERE he says things because things will get picked up and printed.

    Wow.

I'm reading some Excerpts from Donaghy's book now. Some of this stuff is amazing. This guy figured he's caught and had nothing to lose so he talked about quite a few officials.

He didnt say anything to the pubilc though. He was talking on the phone and someone overheard and decided to tell the media about it. Not like he went searching for a reporter to let out his frustration. He's allowed to get emotional about that stuff. He doesn't have to be professional when it comes to his 19 year old son. This isn't like Dwights dad trying to stick up for a grown *** man thats been in the league for years.

I don't blame him for venting his frustrations...and he was on the phone having a personal conversation not everyone in emotional state thinks about who's listening to them talk on the phone.

Ja, the NBA just tried to bury the bad press, along with Donaghy.. didn't exactly fill a lot of people with confidence.

Yeah, see, we're talking about this and while I'm not blaming the officials for last night, this stuff DOES happen.

    It most certainly does.

Blazers got hosed just a couple of weeks ago:

The writer pretty much nailed it.

Re-read the comment. I said he needs to stay professional. He did not say it to the public, but clearly did it IN public. He needs to be mindful of what he is doing in the presence of others when it affects his high profile son.
