Thread: Who should become the first person to be drafted to the pelicans?

What's the general take on Nerlens? Everyone's been talking about the 3s but I keep drooling over a potential combo of Davis and Noel.

I would have been fine with taking John Henson last year at 10. He will be a good rebounder and shot blocker in this league. He and Davis in the paint would be a nightmare defensively long-term.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Noel would block shots and rebound in the league. Would be fine with him, but I think he will go top 3.

Noel and Davis would not be a good pairing. Davis needs and will stay at the 4 his natural position. I honestly think we might wind up drafting the 7 Ftr Len from Maryland. That would be a much better pair. Let's Davis stay at the 4 and Len is a natural. Dude is a back to the basket scoring center. He doesn't get nearly enough recognition cause he plays with terrible guards and a terrible team. They hardly ever get the ball down low to him cause they r ball hogs. When he does get the ball he does his thing and it's a thing of beauty. When's the last time we were able to run our offense thru a low post dominant 7 footer?? That gets me excited thinking about it.

much rather someone like len, while noel brings better defense to an extent, len is bigger and will be better offensively, dont think davis and noel would compliment each other well, kind of like having all ur back court players being drivers and no shooters, u need a mixture, davis and len compliment each other perfectly

Also I see chad Ford has us taking Marcus Smart, I wonder if he has us playing him at the PG or think we will trade gordon and put him at the 2?

Porter and smart playing right now

Yup, he's 7"1 250 pounds, is a natural shot blocker, has a good post game and a 17 ft jumper, him and davis would make a great tandem

Len has pretty impressive advanced metrics for a guy his age. Much better than what Leonard was last year.

Exactly....and I think smart most def would be running the point. I gotta say I think a lot of ppl r underestimating this draft class. I see a very nice top 10 to draft from with an avg 11-20...which is pretty good for a draft...I will still dream of somehow being able to draft mclemore until the moment comes where I know for sure it's not happening lol

    Didn't even see that...nice catch

Len is on ESPN vs north carolina, and he scored as I was typing this, he is such soft touch around the basket for someone his size, I really want him, if he was on a good team he would be putting up 20-8 this year.

  14. #539
Big guy running the floor there lol

  15. #540
len just scored again, 2-2 for 4 points, he is HUGE

Right? And he is only at 250 right now...he could easily get to 280+ n be an absolute beast!!!!! In all mock drafts if we aren't drafting smart we are drafting this guy. I love it.

  17. #542
That's pretty cool all 3 guys we are expecting and wanting to draft are all on right now!!!!

  18. #543
Ya if Shabazz isnt there when we pick I want Len, i really like shabazz because he is a scorer and can score from anywhere on the floor and has a great 3 ball shot and we need that next to gordon and rivers for the drive and dish, but i love len, dude is a giant, looks like he belongs in that jack the giant killer movie. He just towers over everyone

Except Shabazz, I know people arent as high on him as I am but he is averaging 19 PPG for UCLA, that is insane, maybe even impossible with the way they run their offense, Shabazz won't give u much in rebounding but he will be a 20ppg scorer in the NBA i guarantee it. If we get shabazz, smart, len or porter i am HAPPY! and guess what I think we will!

  20. #545
I'm telling u guys if we can get above average pg play we can be an 8 seed with our current lineup.

  21. #546
A few tweaks on the bench of course but I'm talking starting 5.

  22. #547
exactly, we already have the pieces, Gordon our do it all scorer, closer, Davis who will be our IT guy who just changes the game, our bench guy in Ryno, we just need a sharpshooter and someone to compliment Davis in the paint with a low post game.

maryland's guards are absolutely terrible, Len is setting nice pick and rolls and is never getting the ball wide open under the rim, jeez
