Thread: SMALL 3-team trade

    Trade Idea SMALL 3-team trade

I think this seems like a more reasonable/realistic deal and more of Dell's style...it ain't sexy but it'll work in the long run. (Trade Machine is down on ESPN sorry but salaries match up)

Pelicans get: Ronnie Brewer, Eric Maynor, Perry Jones III
Knicks get: Al-Farouq Aminu, Roger Mason
    Thunder get: Steve Novak

Why Pelicans do it: Brewer becomes a starter and a more capable starting SF that is buried three deep on the NY bench, Maynor will be a capable back-up PG that is ALSO third banana on the OKC bench and PJ3 would be a back-up SF with a lot of potential and more upside than Lance Thomas. (though after giving fans fries yesterday, I like Lance- a-lot more as a person)

Why Knicks do it: They get the defensive presence of Aminu on their 2nd unit that will help in the playoffs, plus J.R. Smith is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd option off the bench. Though Mason doesn't add much, the salaries match-up and most importantly both contracts come off the books next year for NY so it'll free them up in FA.

Why Thunder do it: Novak will bring more scoring off the bench to team up with Martin making their 2nd unit much stronger.

    What do you think?

Not a bad trade for any team, I agree with you it is definitely more realistic. The one question I would have to ask you is are you satisfied with the defense of brewer, that we will be losing with Aminu?

Rather keep Aminu long-term over Brewer. Aminu is showing signs of improvement and he's still young. I wanna see him grow here and his defense alone is great enough to keep him.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

PJ3 was born in my hometown of Winnsboro and I would love to have him, but I see Aminu starting to get better.

I don't think OKC would do that.

Aminu is a great defender already, Long & athletic, a rebounding machine who needs to develop a córner 3 shot. He's developing a nice postup game with the hooks and runners.
And Mason is a very good off the bench player, every team needs a guy like him.
This trade is a lose lose for us.

Sorry man I'm not picking on you but I don't like these comments, it adds nothing to this debate. Why? OKC is giving up their 3rd string PG Maynor & a PJ3 who they've sent to the D-League earlier this year for Novak who is a proven 3 point threat not mention in the 3 point contest this year. Only reason they wouldn't do it is if they are really putting an effort to developing PJ3 but for the short term Novak will help them in the playoffs.

Rather Corey Brewer over Ronnie Brewer. be patient and let dell work his magic stick.

This is a trade that could actually happen. Though I'd try to pilfer Jeremy Lamb instead somehow if possible, I know there's a waiting period after someone has been traded within a season already.

God I hope we don't trade Aminu. I'd keep him over Gordon anyday.

maynor may be their 3rd PG but he can play
i dont see novak as an upgrade for them but i do like your trade for us

I do understand that Brewer is not a starter, this was just to bolster our bench a bit. In the long term it would keep us financially flexible and still be more realistic on the return. So say next year we'd get a SF through the draft or FA it could be:

    Maynor
    Rivers
    Brewer/PJ3
    Ryno
    Smith

Agreed Maynor can play but I do see Novak as an upgrade because of what they're giving up. Neither Maynor nor PJ3 are getting much playing time and Novak would be a full-time reserve to back up Durant. Right now PJ3 is their only SF on the roster. Here's their stats this year:

    Novak: 6.9/.5/1.9

    PJ3: 1.7/.4/1.4
    Maynor: 2.8/2.0/.5
