If we land Jennings and still have our lottery pick this year... I just don't see that pick being THAT valuable next year in comparison w/ the return we'll get from landing our PG of the future in the trade. You could always top 7 protect or something of that sort. Just my thought process on the matter.

We'd prolly have to throw max money at Jennings and Milwaukee would have to be very convinced hes not worth that much for us to get him. That is not a good circumstance for us IMO. Teague bandwagon, all day baby :P

I still can't believe we S&T for Anderson and only gave up Ayon.
Sign and trades are for teams who don't want to retain the player. Ayon for Anderson worked bc the magic were not interested in keeping Anderson or adding any payroll outside of a mill or so a year.

And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Who would you want? This is a Jennings thread so he is obviously player one...what I see is a poor shooting high volume shooter who isn't all that efficient. People get pissed that Vasquez takes too many shots...imagine if Jennings was here. I think he will ask for WAY too much money. There is no way he is worth a max extension...please Hornets stay away at all costs.

Player two is Teague and player three is Vazquez. Vasquez is a better offensive player...Teague is the better defensive player...take your pick. The question again is what will he cost?

Player 4 is Jose Calderon someone I NEVER see even mentioned. He will be available in the offseason as a UFA. He won't cost as much as BJ and is more efficient. He could come in and tutor Rivers on how to play the point. He would be the starter...get 25 minutes a game which is about what he has played this year...Rivers gets the rest. I think he will be affordable and he could work on a two year deal.

Bledsoe is after that. He would require a trade and what would the clippers want in return? He is more efficient than pretty much everyone on this list, but he probably isn't available right now. It would be great to get him because he is still on his rookie deal, but what would it end up costing as far as assets?

The last guy on the list is Mo Williams, who is currently injured, but will be a UFA this offseason.

This is a short list of available players and players that the board seems to love with their stats and PER so comparisons can be made. I don't know where to find the advanced stats so PER is what I can offer. If I knew where to find things like Win Shares per 48 I would have looked them up.

It doesn't seem like any of these guys would be a huge upgrade of Vasquez who is already under contract, but if a offer came up that allowed the hornets to move Vasquez for an upgrade elsewhere do it and try to get Calderon or Williams as two year mentors for Rivers. I think both would be relatively cheap and people here seem to really hate Vasquez.

Everyone on the board is saying that Vasquez can't be the starter on a championship team, but is a good back-up. I think management thinks the same thing. They want Rivers to be the starting point. So the question becomes do they blow away the capspace next offseason and blow it all on a PG who 1. isn't that big of an upgrade, and 2. prevents Rivers from ascending to the starting PG role (what I think they want him to do) or do they hold onto the capspace for 2014 when it looks like there will be a better FA class?

    But please NO Jennings.

lionel, you can mind 90% of stats at http://www.basketball-reference.com/

There is a lot to go through and it isn't the most intuitive site, but it should have nearly everything you need.

sorry, but I just dont understand how the stats above indicate that Vasquez is a better offensive player than Teague....I dont think there is any doubt about who plays the better defense.....I will maintain the I am a Teague fan if we went after a young PG in FA....I just feel he is a more realistic get than Bledsoe....

But if Milwaukee were on the fence about Jennings a trade could push them over. Without a trade the choice is Jennings or cap space to chase a Free Agent which we know you have to over pay to get to Milwaukee. Vasquez has really upped his production so Demps will be selling a top 3 assister in the league on a $2 million contract. If the Bucks think Vasquez can keep them in the same playoff bubble position for $10 million less than Jennings it might be appealing to them.

Getting an expensive guard is a risky proposition. If Rivers develops into the player the team think he's going to, you're pretty killed your cap going all in with Jennings and would probably have to take on bad contracts to move anyone of our expensive guards. I think I'd be more incline to go after a free agent at a position of need rather than a position of want. If I had to have a guard, I'd get them through the draft as he'll have a cap friendly salary and adds flexibility if you need to move someone in the back court in the future.

Didn't realize that my above post was as long as it was...sorry about that...found some advance stats on ESPN...http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/holli.../pg/sort/VORPe

    RK PLAYER EWA
    1 Russell Westbrook, 10.1
    2 Chris Paul, 9.8
    3 Tony Parker, 9.6
    4 Kyrie Irving, CLE 7.7
    5 Stephen Curry, GS 7.4
    6 Kemba Walker, CHA 6.7
    7 Jrue Holiday, PHI 6.4
    8 Deron Williams, BKN 6.2
    9 Brandon Jennings, MIL 5.4
    10 Jose Calderon, DET/TOR 5.3

Top ten for Earned win shares in the league...what would it take to get Kemba from the Bobcats?

It was relevant to what Berger was talking about. Looks like the OP just mistook the context of the quote.

I don't see Jennings coming here, with or without the quote but I'm sure many will cling on to hope because he is one of the big names in free agency and fills a need at PG.

Research concludes Bucks' Jennings and Ellis shoot too much
By Matt Moore | Senior Blogger

I want the Brandon Jennings-Monta Ellis combination to work when I watch the Bucks. Just from a basketball aesthetics and theoretical constructs standpoint, I want it to be what it was envisioned to be when the Bucks traded Andrew Bogut for Ellis: Jennings as shot-taker and creator, drawing opponents and then dishing to Ellis, who can either spot-up or create his own with the space provided, as the Bucks' legion of big men cut and swoop and dash off screens and onto the glass.

But, alas, as surprisingly fun as the Bucks are a lot of the time, their two best players are pretty terrible offensively.

Not exactly like there's a lot of choice on that team. Though I'd figure Larry Sanders could stand to get some more touches.

looks like jennings wants to get out of milwaukee! either in a trade or in free agency! teams that were mentioned were the Hawks and the Mavs! Do you think the Hornets will go after him?

How much would you pay Jennings?

Right, esp since Jennings came out and said he never said such a thing today.

No more than 8-9 million per season.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

It has been a bit of a saga though.
