Yep, I said I would trade him for an 05 pick and no long term cap hit.

Instead I got two picks (in loaded drafts) and minimal long term cap hit. Plus I really liked Humphries, surprised he slipped as low as he did in this past draft.

Best way to start over long-term. Clean slate for the Raptors.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

    Raptors/Wizards

Wow I was about to make a good offer

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

One of the top 5 players in this game gets traded for 5 bench players pretty much. Why would anyone want to have a clean slate when they have Hill?! Now your going to spend the same anount of cap space for 2 players who are not as good as Hill. This has to be the most lopsided trade done in this game to date... But hey the Raptors are not my team so goodluck with whatever your doing.

Well, I guess I would rather have 2 very good prime age players than one older expensive great player.

    Depth

Not to mention 3 picks in the upcoming draft. Lots of flexibility.

I enjoy this. I want to hear everyone's opinion.

I don't mind a good debate on team building philosophy.

Its a similar trade I made with Sheed a few seasons back. Hill is 32. Its gonna be hard for the Raptors to put a championship team around him quickly and plus he expires at the end of the season.

Exactly why this makes sense. Good deal from both teams' perspectives.

When i took over the warriors i traded mcdyess + bad contract to philly for 2 first round picks and jarred jefferies... I was bashed endlesslyl before the trade was revoked. He traded a much better player for the same package!

I can't remember the trade specifically, but I don't think Mcdyess was expiring?

If you thought it was a good idea then, why isn't it now?

    And boom goes the dynamite.

I agree with the clean slate mentality. I also agree that the Wizards are kind of frightening.

^^ hill>>> mcdyess... These first round picks you got are going to be very late first round picks. You didnt pick up a single good pick or asset in the deal. You traded away a top 5 player for scraps. Im sure someone could have given you a much much stronger deal.

Yet no one did. The Wizards pick might not look great but I bet there is no one here that wouldn't want my own pick now.

hey for what its worth, i'll be screwed financially next season when Kobe and Hill asks for the max

^^ I don't think anyone is stopping you this year. You have the best SG and the best SF in the game + Vin Baker!

you can never tell. the sonics had McDyess, Pierce and Allen yet they never made it to the finals.

what you are missing to acknowledge in this trade is the financial relief that the raptors have made, Hill is a 32 yr old star who will want the max next season. If he had kept Hill and sign ONE Max free agent this season (Wallace, Mourning, Allen, Rose) he will still have a respectable season. Maybe he's not sold on Hill's abilities on carrying the team.

He actually tried to win everything with Hill as the leader, he even had Wallace(a max guy) and Andre Miller (i bet he also gets the max this season) to help Hill, but he didnt go that far in the playoffs.

With his current situation, he can sign Ray Allen to a max, get 3 1st rounders next year (his will be a good one), while still have the option to sign another max free agent next season (the '01 class is coming off their rookie deals)
