The positive part of the game is that we were able to fight back from a 16 point deficit, and a lot of the credit there goes to Jose Alvarado

No time to sulk over this crappy game.

They've got 6 games in 9 days coming up. Half of them on the road and two b2bs.

No wonder they decided to rest Herb one more game.

I know it’s early, but everytime I think we are a championship contending team, a loss like this brings me back to reality. I have to stop buying into the hype

1: I feel horrible for DD. Other than the 0 for 2 in the clutch, he played a nice game. He had some defensive gems against LBJ. He might not be going to B'mingham afterall; we need all the defense we can muster.

2: On the otherhand, I would send JAX to B'mingham forthwith!!! The man's got so much wasted talent; it's a shame!!!

3: I really don't think Griff has to worry about the Big Guy making an All NBA Team and meriting the Supermax. 36:36 played and getiing just three defensive rebounds won't cut it.

And yet they rested BI for 2 weeks and Hart returns sooner from concussion. This team is way too cautious.

    JV cannot protect the rim.
Doesn't matter how you sugar coat it.
Not a knock on him. He can't do everything, but this team needs a rim protector badly.

Nah, Jonas is a fine defensive presence in the paint, just under appreciated by Pels fans. His limitation defensively is outside the paint.

I didn't say he was a bad defender. I said he doesn't protect the rim, you know like change shots.
    There is a difference.

The fact that Ingram is your best player isn’t a good thing. He’s one of the most injury prone players in the league because of how scrawny and thin his bones are. It’s why he misses 20+ games in EVERY single season since he’s entered the NBA.

Zion has his own injury issues and CJ is old.

Pelicans don’t have a reliable star player that has even average level of durability.

Seriously, did you watch the game? The Lakers suck. We just ******** the bed. Despite playing as poorly as possible in the first half and most of the 3rd, we should have won the game at LA with two of our starters not playing.

I think we need to get used to “two of our starters not playing”. When one comes back, another sits. It’s the norm for them now. Have to just win with what you have. The record prediction people have for them isn’t talent based, it’s injury based. Got to at-least give them 40 Ls automatically every year to start, because that’s how many games two starters are out for this team.

The more y’all give them excuses for losing, the more they will lose. Can’t take an L and go kiss Lebron and AD after the game. Have to hate losing more than loving to win. The L last night should have made every player on the roster disgusted. The Lakers were playing dirty as hell on Z. He should have been livid.

If CJ played half as good as the expectations, we are 6 - 1 right now. We can talk about the need for a rim protector until 'the cows come home', this team needs better backcourt play ASAP. The one thing CJ is suppose to be able to do is shoot; 41% and 27% is horrid. DD better play better than a 19 year old FAST!!!

Couldn’t agree more. His iso ball was giving me nightmares.

We lost 2 games that we should win and i just hope it doesnt come to bite us. We are much better then the Lakers and i hope we meet them in PO even if that means the pick is not that good!
I'm sad because of Dyson. He played good game and excellent defense and now everyone will only remember the free throws. This is young team it will happen. More concerning for me is that Zion has only one move and that CJ doesnt play in 4th as he plays in first 3(he doesn't search for right play, he just looks for his shot). We have some tough games comming up and thats why these losses agains Lakers and Jazz hurt even more...

I feel terribly for Dyson. We had em. I was yelling eat sh!t Lakers at the top of my lungs at the bar and doling out high fives. I can't imagine how he's feeling.

Tough loss. Hopefully, Willie can learn how to RUN ACTUAL PLAYS FOR TREY MURPHY. We gonna need to hit some threes on Friday.

Murphy was always gonna come down. Teams aren’t stupid and they can see Murphy is clearly a priority defensively so he’s gonna have to adapt. He won’t have clear lines to shoot from. He needs to take and make shots with hands right up in his grill. And he will. I just hope he can become more competent as a ball handler because there’s good potential there. He gets even 60% of Khris Middleton’s game and he’s a real one.

This. We knew the Pelicans were due for a dumb game, massively disappointing it was to the Lakers. It literally could have been any other team and I would have been fine.

I have the Pelicans losing the next two btw. That's with or without B.I. don't like how we match up against Golden State and playing a back to back in Atlanta against the Hawks and Refs is going to be a frustrating game to watch.

Another thought yet lingers: Herb probably contests and blocks that shot entirely.

  22. #247
Or gets lost on the switch and isnt as close as Trey was.

Herb gets a lot of love for D, but watch him off ball. Dude gets lost a lot

I said at the start of the season that, because of the how the schedule looks over the first dozen games or so, I won't even really be surprised if the team starts off 5-7, or even 4-8 in extreme circumstances.

Now, we've won some of those worrying games now (Clippers, for example, and I predicted Nets to be harder than it was) but we've also lost games I expected us to win (Utah, Lakers), so to be honest, I'm still in on that. I'm not really going to worry about the record until Christmas unless we go on a horrific skid and drop 5 straight or something. We all knew it was a tough early schedule, you can't acknowledge that and then still expect us to come out of it 11-1 or whatever.

The Pels loss don’t matter. This team just needs to be playing it’s best at the end of the season and I think they will be. It’s the Lakers win that stinks. I would give back the Mavs and Clips wins just to have beaten the Lakers. That is more important right now

So nothing. Teams don?t foul in catch and shoot last second shots. One shot from a 33% shooter or three FTs from a 78% shooter. Only fans would think the latter is a better option.
