Pelicans December 26th - New Orleans Pelicans vs Indiana Pacers - 20-12

Pels back on the court for the first game after Christmas - only a little while left in 2022 so let's try and end it as strong as possible.

Tonight we play the Pacers. We don't have Ingram, and Nance is still questionable, but Zion returns to the lineup - he is not listed on the injury report per yesterday (Eichenhofer).

The Pacers are a team we last saw in early November, in a game we lost by 7. That night, we had all 3 of our big three healthy but it was a night where CJ was in his early season doldrums and they had 3 starters with at least 20 - and all 5 had 15. We were also outrebounded, 45-43.

But they also shot 49% from 3 as a team, which isn't particularly likely to happen again, and CJ is starting to round back into his real self, so things could look differently at home - that game was in Indiana.

Still, a tough outing against a pretty solid team with a lot of dangerous elements. Team needs to come out with intensity and not be impacted too much by the holiday layoff.

    Let's go!
    Basketball.

Sounds like there was illness spreading through the locker room.

Hopefully 2023 would look better health wise with this team...

Looks like it. It's the time of year for it, though, so it makes sense.

Its not just that locker room. Its everywhere. Lots of ppl getting sick from severe to mild. Including me.

Zion being out is curious tho. Return to competition conditioning? He was barely out a week.

Who knows? Maybe it was a really bad 48 hour flu or something and they just want to get him a practice before throwing him out for 35+ minutes, given that's roughly how much he's been playing in the recent games.

With Pacers in town I’ll pass along that a tip from someone close to Pels brass that team has been in active talks about a deal for Myles Turner involving trading JV + parts. Objective is more space for Zion + rim protection on defense. No idea if likely but guy described discussions as substantive. Take it fwiw….

Just trying to understand what would make the Pacers do this.

That trade works without including Herb. I'd do it if it wasn't our potential swap with the Lakers and no Herb.

SMH Trey Murphy, Zion, Dyson, and Herb all out. Does anyone want to buy my tickets?

I have a feeling I’m going to see a lot of Garrett Temple tonight

Interested to see if JAX can back up his Friday Night effort with another good one. It could bode well for his future as a Pelican or his trade value before the deadline.

For his sake, I hope he does.

Looking like a long night with 75 points per game on the injury report.

CJ with 3 turnovers in the first 5 minutes.

Coming from a Jax fan, is not suited to be the 4 to much standing around
