Stretching and Waiving Temple - 3 or 5 years?

His 2023-2024 season isn't guaranteed until 30th of June 2023

If he is stretched and waived say July 1st 2022, would his 2023-2024 season be treated as non-guaranteed, so he would only be on the books for 3 years?

From what I've read, I'm thinking yes

Never a good idea to stretch. We can always add him to an uneven trade or keep him one more year.

So, if he had some guaranteed money on that last year, it would be five. If you are just stretching the guaranteed money, that is the only year they see as a real year. So, it’s 3 years.

Basically, you would have a dead cap hit of a little under 2 mil per year for 3 years. Which is nothing. If you NEED the 15th roster spot for someone who can really matter, you waive him every time. But honestly, I would just absorb the full hit this year

Let’s say you love a guy you take in the 2nd. You can sign him and the 8th pick and waive Temple, absorbing the full hit this year and be under the tax
