Yeah if Grif is going by the Loomis book you won?t see Zion back this season. See Michael Thomas who also had a foot injury for the Saints. Zion not even on the Pelicans bench anymore . Did he go rehab in California too like Eric Gordon? You mean to tell the closest rehab that meets Zion ?s needs are in California not Louisiana?

I've got no problem with it if that's the case. The best thing to do during this COVID era of NBA basketball is to tank and build through the draft. Like we talked about earlier, this team has never really had an awesome, dual all-star, 1-2 punch. They've come close but other guys weren't quite all stars, got career threatening injuries or were all stars who had no business being all stars.

He's not on the bench because he had another procedure (injection) with an out of state specialist.

Having said that, it would not surprise me at all if we shut him down for the season.

Anyone taking bets on when/if he comes back to the Pels?
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

You gotta think the odds are it's next season, which I'm fine with.

My dream scenario would be for Zion to sit out the year, but the Pelicans make the play-in without him. I'm frankly tired of the "Zion has no help" narrative, and I'd love nothing more than for Zion to be returning to a team that's already a play-in team.

I do not think he comes back this year. My bigger concern is how long he waits for the inevitable second surgery to correct the issue. If he waits too long, next season could be in jeopardy as well.

Just doing some reading on lisfranc injuries in athletes. The outer time frame of return to play is 12 months. It's usually faster than that. But there it is. He isn't outside of normal yet. 12 months post surgery is still normal but on the long end.

Edit: In fact it states the athlete should not return to vigorous athletic activities for 9 to 12 months. I know people come back sooner. But these people do not carry Zions weight or explosion. It sucks he's not out there buy he still isn't outside normal healing time.

It's also very possible Griffen has been told to expect him back and the docs keep pushing the date back on him. Sometimes people just don't heal as expected.

I thought he was reported to have a Jones fracture rather than lisfranc

Lol, that would explain the difference in return time. Sorry, I have covid right now so I'm not exactly thinking clearly
