No, but having guys with talent on the bench is excellent when some star wants out and the other team wants promising guys in return. Like a Jared Butler for instance. BJ Boston too.

There is a logistical dilemma there...if we don't sign a 2nd round pick to a contract, we can't develop them. We only have so much room on the roster and 2 2-way contracts (they'd have to agree to a 2-way, doubtful that Butler would, for instance). If we don't have them under contract, even if for some reason they agree to play for our G League team, then they can be signed by any other team at any time...so what are we developing them for? Our developmental resources are not unlimited, they are already being spent on Jax, Kira, NAW, Zion, TM3, Didi, Herb...that's a lot of youth.
