Not that hard to explain, in my view.
1) Shouldn't have been all defense, was isolated from his mistakes by being on a historically great defense with other people taking the most difficult assignments and a heroic backline cleaning up those who beat him
2) Shouldn't have been all D first team, for similar reasons as above although to a lesser extent.
When he's on a good team, he's more engaged - this is true of most vets tbh - and when that's the case he can be a very solid defender, but he should never have been stealing those all-NBA nods from Jrue. He deserved neither of them.
Basketball.
To get the best out of Adams he needs to have good recovery time, probably more than other players, because his play is so physical. He dishes out and takes a lot of contact and dives on the floor which is a big deal for a 7 footer, and tends to accumulate wear and tear and injuries and plays though them without complaining. In OKC he was overplayed at times and consequently underperformed in a couple of playoffs because his form was limited. Obviously he was carrying an injury that hasn't fully recovered vs the bulls. Maybe he should get a couple of scheduled games off for recovery and give JAx another chance with Billy.
Just another Kiwi basking in the reflected glory of Steven Adams....bask bask...
