NBA Trade Deadline Stuff - [League Wide]

Thought it might be prudent to open up a thread for the various things that will happen around the league as we approach the trade deadline. While we as a team might not make that many changes (who knows, yet?) there will definitely be some shifts going on around the NBA that will be worth keeping on top of, and they're not all roster related.

For example, here's the first major shoe to drop:

    Hawks fired their coach!
    Basketball.

Blake Griffin's been bought out. Didnt actually see that coming, honestly. Wonder where he'll end up.

If he were smart he would take a flier on Utah. Top team who has a bit of a gap at PF.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Ah, but would they want him? I don't know what value he could add really other than a super marginal bench role and their rotations are pretty effective and well defined.

    My guess is Brooklyn.

Yeah, I think he is Brooklyn bound, but to Pelicanidea’s point, good question. I don’t know how he would fit on that team as it really is great than the sum of its parts. What value would he bring anyone at this point?

The thing about Brooklyn is that right now what they need is defensive specialists and 3 point guys, and Blake isn't really either at this point. With Kyrie, Harden, and KD, they don't really need anymore on ball scorers or playmakers.

Blake really doesn't have much demand. Like we even could use any PF help. I still think he's a pass. He's kind of more of the same attitude wise issues in the locker room. As much as we desperately need better PF play... We can't have anymore lackadaisical veteran presence.

Boston makes a lot of sense. The other possibility could be the Lakers.

Not sure why any contenders would want blake at this point of his career...he can't defend can't really rebound as he used to and insists that he is a stretch 4 but can't shoot...

Drummond might be the next buyout candidate.. I'd rather have him than blake if i were the nets

Meyers Leonard caught using an antisemitic slur on his COD livestream which is about the most unsurprising thing of all time, frankly.

    Deadline closing in.

Aaron Gordon appears to have requested a trade; I think he'll move soon but probably not the New Orleans. Houston is my bet.

If Marcus Smart is at all available I'd be enquiring.

Would be surprised if Smart were available in anything other than a blockbuster by Boston. They value him very highly.

Oh I agree, but you have to at least ask and find out what the price is.

Trying to move Lonzo in a deal that also offloads Bledsoe, it seems.

That seems like a wash trade with very little return.

This. If this is the way we're going, I'm not expecting more than a mid FRP or second rounders and filler players. I'm curious to see who it is though.
