I don’t know what to say but this is refreshing. Ppl are finally seeing that patience has nothing to do with this team. They simply are a bad product year in and year out and push success into the future like Mickey Loomis does with the salary cap. Keep believing it and they will keep being terrible. They have to be held accountable for the only thing they are consistent at and that’s being bad 60-70% of the time. I mean I was never aware that I had to be older to win on the basketball court. It’s not coaching. The organization just brings in players that do not have the competitive fire to lead on the court. BI should have taken last nights game personal. Instead, he acted like a role player. That’s the story that keeps on living and Pels fans believe it’s growth. You can’t coach a player to try hard. It’s not possible. It has to be them or take them out the game. Especially, if the da*n player is on a max contract.

And then its not, but it will be next year. Or once we get x pick or y player. Meanwhile, cut to 2021 and its the same thing as people were saying in chat rooms in 1994.

Be patient, do what you like, but as an old man who has been around the block - you will see that the glory day you are all hoping for is never coming. And you wouldnt accept that from any other business. You wouldnt spend your time or money at a restaurant that is bad and say, "See this new busboy...he is young but in a few years, he will be a great chef and this place will finally be good!"

I just find it funny, thats all
This restraunt has new chefs, menu, servers and bus boy. Everything is new. There is no reason to hold pass failures over them. Maybe you can hold it against Mrs. Gayle? She's pretty new to this herself.

In short it says “ I don’t know man so much goes into it, you have agents that actively call GMs and say play my guy or I’ll ******** this up for you etc just play him and get him off the team in 20 days”
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

I used to live on Metairie Rd. And there was a restaurant that changed names/owners every couple of years. No matter the change the restaurant kept failing. It’s not because it was a bad venue because right across the street was a high end restaurant that was always busy, and down the street there were a row of restaurants all busy.

Perhaps this city’s basketball team is run by those same restaurant entrepreneurs.

Yeah i was really hoping we went the route of hiring a younger coach like Indiana,OKC did. But we got stuck with another retread.

And its still in the same poor location, which is the #1 predictor of success in the restaurant industry (and a top indicator for success in this sport as well). Sure, you can find outliers of massive success in bad locations (small markets), but everything has to break right. And it hasnt for us in the the past and what has shown you, from Griffin's first year and a half and SVG's last few years of coaching, makes you believe that EVERYTHING will break right for this restaurant in a poor location, that hasnt been able to attract top chefs, waiters, and bartenders in the past?

We just got to hope the Pels are like the Saints and strike gold with the coach hire one of these days... maybe in 40 years like it took the Saints but one day......

Personally I do. I give everything that's ******** 2-3 chances. This the Pelicans second chance at a GM/Vp to me. If Griffin is axed they get one more GM from me

Don’t forget he works 100+ hours a week at that restaurant that he refuses to tell us where it is at or show us the menu yet he has time to post here.

I need to know what Mac has done to everyone. I get that he is confident in his own thoughts, but shouldn’t we all be. Y’all roast him on a daily basis. I usually read what he says and it doesn’t trigger me at all. It just makes me want to either agree or debate it. But, I thought that was what we were supposed to do here.

I second this. I haven't posted here in forever. Mainly due to the fact that this franchise is depressing and I don't feel like I have much to offer in the way of healthy conversation, since it would probably be way too negative. But I still browse very often. And McNamara is the PR punching bag for some odd reason. He sees what we all see. A depressing organization, year after year after year. As far as I can tell, he calls it like it is and doesn't sugarcoat anything.

Spot on brotha. When you purchase a product, you expect it to be worth your money. This franchise continues to make mistakes like the Adams trade and things like that and he has been right every time. Adams has been flat out terrible. He can?t move and provides nothing that they need for long term growth. So, I feel the same way as you about a lot of it. It?s easy to watch this team and see that they are running in quick sand, but people are in denial and like to bring up worse franchises like it?s going to make this franchise any easier to watch. I would bet a good amount of money that most of the people here would agree that they are not a good product, if they weren?t a fan of this team. Sometimes you have to take off the fan glasses and realize everything being sold is fools gold.

Jesus Christ this place..... if you only watch basketball to see your team hoist the Larry O'Brien at the end of every season, go be a goddam Lakers fan. If you don't enjoy watching Zion mother********ing Williamson play basketball and grow before our eyes, and watching Brandon Ingram play All-Star level games on a consistent basis, and watching Lonzo start to find his perfect role, and watching Steven Adams be the most Australian basketball player ever, and on and on then go somewhere else.

Of course this team is frustrating and there's an incredibly minuscule chance that we ever win a title. And of course there are tons of legitimate criticisms that can credibly be lofted at all levels of this organization. And this forum does that in sublime fashion on occasion. But for people to complain like the sky has fallen and that we don't have one of the most enviable situations in the league going forward is to be intentionally and performatively morose.

GET EXCITED. We have Zion and BI and a ton of intriguing young players and a boatload of picks. Sure, that may all turn into nothing. But to ignore the occasional brilliance this team produces is ridiculous. To act like history is doomed to repeat itself despite literally every piece of this organization having undergone significant changes is ignorant. But this is basketball and if the only thing it does is frustrate and bring you to despair, then why pay attention? This should be fun, if also periodically maddening.

I agree Nola 3 there is a lot to be legitimately excited about.....We lead the league in offense ffs, I mean these young guys are outscoring the Nets and the Lakers.

I must correct one thing though, Adams is a Kiwi, not an Aussie
Just another Kiwi basking in the reflected glory of Steven Adams....bask bask...

The issue is that in the NBA they keep score, and the Pels are more often than not with less points than the other team. Who cares if someone is an allstar if they only play one end of the court. I know I know, he will grow.... but, the truth is he probably won’t and what you are seeing is what you get.

My point is that if your only satisfaction comes from the two numbers on opposite sides of the scoreboard after it has ticked 2880 times, then this probably is not the team for you.

I totally agree with you but you can?t fault the fans that value winning over stats. I don?t care if every player on the team averages 10 points, if they win most of their games. I understand it?s easier to be a fan when you just enjoy the highlights and stuff. I?m an old school guy, so I enjoy tough branded basketball, and this team is simply not tough. They get punched and don?t punch back on the majority of the nights. It?s not an age thing at all to want to defend your territory. When someone goes at the Pels players, they rarely do the same thing. That?s what needs to change.

    Well allow me to retort.

    Advanced Statistics.

Steven Adams is the only player on our roster with a positive net rating and positive +/- not only this year but every year of his NBA career. This is his eighth year.

In other words, when Adams takes the floor, he consistently makes his team better.

He models qualities this team needs to be consistent winners: team first, selfless, consistent effort and commitment on both ends of the floor including DEFENCE, and high basketball IQ.

I think his +/- is a little misleading for this team. The reason being is Adams rarely plays with reserves. Would you say Adams is better than Zion, since he has a higher +/-. I just don’t put much into that category. It doesn’t take into account a lot of important factors. But, I’m not saying he hasn’t been good before, but let’s not act like the guy can move on the court. He’s literally a statue.

Nah I definitely get that. And I completely agree that this team needs to take things more personally. And obviously that winning is better than losing.

I just don't know if it's reasonable to expect this particular team to win more than they lose. And if that becomes the expectation then we can miss all the fun things that are actually happening along the way.
