David Griffin: Finding Stasis With Zion Williamson Is The Challenge

Eight pounds of muscle in a WEEK?! That is physically impossible.

If that's true, then Zion is lab created. No way he's human then.

    No, it's not.
He did not say that he gained 8lbs in a week.
He said that he gained 8lbs of muscle. That's entirely different. It correllates directly w/ body fat. So, he didn't have to gain a LITERAL 8lbs to gain 8lbs of muscle.

Probably happened after summer league when his weight was being scrutinized. He probably had a lot of excess to burn from his draft period and media tours. I’m sure he’s not gaining 8 pounds of muscle in a week once he’s in prime basketball shape. But that still inhuman regardless. The combination of genetics and work ethic really get him results fast. It’s insane.

I reiterate - Gaining 8lbs of muscle is NOT synonomous with gaining 8lbs of body weight!
It correllates directly to body fat % loss combined w/ actual weight gain.
Someone can easily gain 3-5 actual lbs in one week. Combine that with Body fat % loss & it's very possible to gain 8lbs of muscle.

The larger ESPN article that this was lifted from was really good. Sorry, I don't have a link.

I wonder what Zion hits in his PBs?

    Over/Under 550lbs on the deadlift?
    Basketball.
