Rumor Buddy wants out of Sacramento?

Bring him back on a trade or wait it out till offseason to give him an offer ?

They'll Cave. They invested too much in him not to.

This story has been ongoing. It's pretty clear he doesn't want out of Sacramento, he'd be happy to stay, but he wants his money. He feels like he's worth more than what they offered him, which was reportedly 4 years $100m. He wants more than that, and he's eligible for more than that, and if they continue to disrespect him by lowballing (as he sees it) then he's perfectly happy to leave for someone who will pay up. That's not quite the same as wanting out, imo.

And he definitely is worth it. He's right when he says that no big name free agents come to Sacramento, and he is a historically great shooter already. That might sound like exaggeration, but it's not.

The list of players to shoot at least 42% from 3, while taking at least 7 threes a game and playing in at least 75 games in a season:

    - Stephen Curry (4 times)
    - Klay Thompson (2 times)
    - Dennis Scott (1 time)
    - Buddy Hield (1 time)

That's it. Buddy has hit over 600 threes on over 41% shooting in his first three seasons in the NBA. The list of players in history to meet those criteria:

    - Buddy Hield

That's the list. One guy. He's been a historically great shooter for his first three years in the league, and he's willing to re-up in Sacramento of all places, as long as they pay him. If they low-ball him, they lose him, and it'll be their own fault for being so stupid.
    Basketball.

What would you give up for him? Should we have let him go in the 1st place?

It's one of those 20-20 things.

I still think it was the right move at the time. We had no way of knowing Buddy was going to be this good at shooting, and we had no way of knowing that Cousins' ankle was going to pop.

Cousins was a superstar at the time. Yes.

Exactly. Cousins was a top 20 player, and Buddy was a 24 year old rookie who was performing inconsistently for us. We had no way of knowing Buddy would be as good as he has been (obviously you expect a little improvement from the down slumps, he was older but still only a rookie, but c'mon, nobody expected him to legitimately shoot like Curry), and Cousins' achilles rupture didn't occur until almost a year later. It blindsided everyone when it happened, and there was no way anyone could have known the previous February.

Who's they? Reported to be only $86 million guaranteed over 4 years with a descending value. Great deal for Kings.

The Kings caved. Good deal for both sides but the deal maxes out at 106 million due to bonuses. It has to be achievable for Hield’s camp to accept it. Jaylen Browns contract will tell us a lot about Ingram’s realistic price if the Celtics make an offer which doesn’t seem likely. But if they trade him, the team that trades for him will more than likely give him 100 or more.

I think Buddy caved. The guaranteed portion is only $86 million. The bonuses are supposedly player AND team goals.
