Thread: Would you trade for Russell Westbrook?

  1. #1

Would you trade for Russell Westbrook?

I would have to think that OKC is looking to pursue a full rebuild at this point. There are not many teams who could offer a better package than the Pelicans if we were truly interested.

    Would you do this trade?

Lonzo Ball, E. Moore, Favors, and 2 or 3 first round picks for Westbrook?

We could then sign a veteran minimum center like Joakim Noah.

    Lineup

    PG: Westbrook/Hart/Jackson
    SG: Holiday/Reddick/NAW
    SF: Ingram/Miller/Williams
    PF: Williamson/Melli/Wood
    C: Noah/Okafor/Hayes

I don’t think Westbrook is the best player to build a championship contender around as he has already shown that he fades in the playoffs with iso ball, but that lineup is definitely tempting.

I'd trade absolutely nothing for him.

I have very little appreciation for his game. He's got a horrible mentality, plays a losing style of basketball, and is painful to watch.

    His contract is awful.
    Basketball.

Westbrook might actually have negative trade value because of that contract. I don't want him anywhere near this team and absolutely would not give up anything of substance for him. Just smells like a Knicks overpay waiting to happen.

    This, so much this.

Pass. That dude would ruin the chemistry we are trying to build.

That said, I think OKC will be no better or worse than they were with PG13.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

No. God, we'd have to revamp the entire team/coaching staff to work around Westbrook.

Remember how upset Gentry would get with Cousins iso ball ways? Now think about if instead of a center that you could keep the ball out of his hands on some possessions, instead of that he was the guy who brought the ball up the court.

Just my hot take based on ineffable qualities that when pressed I wouldn't be able to fully describe: Westbrook and Harden are the types of players that will never win a title as the main pieces of a team. I get the same vibe from Ja Morant.

I wouldnt trade for him because I like the foundation of our team
But to call him one of the worse contracts in the league, has to be one of the worse takes I've heard this summer

The Lakers don’t even want that. Pass.

Looks like Westbrook and the Thunder are going to have a sit down, and look for a possible trade for Westbrook this summer.

    Thunder are going full rebuild?

Knicks should not have blown all of their cap room on marginal players. Dallas has some room left but not many 1st round picks available. Houston? Miami (again not many picks available)?

Doesn't he only have 2 years left? If so, there are plenty worse.

No way I would trade for Westbrook. I like the team we have right now over adding that guy with his huge contract.

I hope he ends up with the Knicks or Bulls to make either one of them relevant in the east while taking OKC out of the playoff picture in the west.

Trade him & Gallinari to the Bulls for LaVine, Otto, Hutchinson, Felicio, & a pick or 2.

And a $47m player option. That he will inevitably take. So three years, really.

Yeah, did not realize there was another year. Pretty bad. Somebody will want him though. Should have been Knicks, but they blew it. Maybe they will make a move for him in Dec if he has not been traded.

Yeah, there'll be somewhere. If CP3 could get the deal he did and still have Houston willing to give him that, there'll be a team somewhere that will take Westbrook and his absurd deal.

The only contracts I can think of off the top of my head that are definitively, unquestionably worse than Westbrook's (at least for a superstar level player, not just roleplayer overpays) are Wall and CP3.

If that could happen and if Westbrook would pass the ball more than he does, it would be a top team.

I don't agree that Embiid or Jokic is better. I would have Westbrook at 9/10, tied with Lillard.
