With AD injured for who knows how long...

Do we get Melo and just tell him to air it out? Lol.

well for one he's a bigger name than we will ever sign as a free agent, and its the type of move that re-bolsters a teams confidence. AD sees Conley rolling through the door, a guy with plenty of playoff experience who has put everything on the line to help make his team better. The belief these NBA players have in themselves is already high, it might be the type of thing that makes them think "yeah we could fire off a late season run with Mike easily, we can be a lock down defensive unit". Name me a better defensive 1 & 2 going than Conley and Holiday would be. it gets you someone with intelligence (something this team needs dramatically), can defend, play the half court game, shoots well, plays hard and is at a position where we are currently rolling out Tim Frazier in a league that is largely said to be guard driven. I already acknowledged his age and contract, injury concerns for him are about as much as AD's (and to be honest, why even act like getting injury free players makes a difference? anyone who comes to the Pels is going to get hurt anyway). we then have an early 2nd rounder this year, which fits into Dells M.O of aiming for talent that drops out of the first if he wants it (or just as another asset). plus then our 2020 and solo to still be used to upgrade at the forward position (hell, I'm sure you could still chase a trade for Barnes if it came out he was intending to opt out to find a new home).

It's far from perfect, but if you're trying to keep AD then there aren't too many paths forward really with so many teams still in the hunt this year. There is clearly the option of rebuilding but what is really going to happen there? It seems far from likely that there will be a clean wipe of all staff, and even if they did do we really trust them to put the right people in? So if that doesn't happen, they just sell and build for the future. But again, believing they will make the right moves there and do it in a way that makes the fanbase believe seems as optimistic as the organisation keeping AD in the first place.

I'm open to all options, I'm not stuck in mud on Trade 3 but I can see positives in it.

This might be a dumb question but why couldn't Houston have just cut him if that's what Chicago is planning?

Houston could, but this saves them money. they are a luxury tax team and getting melo off the books saves them coin (something like $2.6 mill).

AD isn’t named an All Star starter
AD sulks and demands a trade.

Trade AD to the 76ers for Ben Simmons, Fultz, Zhaire, Miami 1st, and Wilson Chandler before the deadline.

After missing out on a bid to get Kyle Korver before the Cavs shipped him to Utah, the Bucks believed to be looking at Davis’ teammate Nikola Mirotic, according to league sources. “He’d be the perfect fit for the Bucks,” one rival Eastern Conference general manager said. “Another guy who can knock down threes would make them even more dangerous.”

Well the Bucks have no 1st round picks til like 2024 so a pick isn't an option. Maybe an expiring contract or 2.

Today is the first day Jason Smith can be traded in combination with other players.

Something built around Jason Smith's expiring including Thon/Donte would be what happens. Could happen today.
