Drew Brees and the Saints came ready to let off some steam following a disappointing loss last week, and boy was it a site to behold. The only question the Saints found themselves not being able to answer after the contest was whether or not coach Sean Payton, hobbled by a knee injury, should remain upstairs indefinitely.<\/p>\n
Brees completed 31 of 35 passes for 325 yards and five touchdowns, but if he’d wanted to the opportunity was there for six or even seven. He’s not selfish, though, and let the running game get it’s fair share. Despite his generosity, his passer rating was an astounding 144.9<\/p>\n
As for the final score of 62 for the Saints, it’s tied for the highest total in league history since the merger. It’s also the single highest scoring game the Saints have had. The margin of victory is also tied for the largest in league history. Not a bad end to what was a beautiful Sunday in New Orleans.<\/p>\n
