And, yup, sorry, that game was boring. The Saints kind of slept walked throughout the entire game. Even though the Jags kept it close at halftime, the Saints were never going to lose. I think my favorite part of the game was having John Kasay on my fantasy team. It would have been nice (and more entertaining) to see the Saints pile on the points, but every team has an off day and it is reassuring to know your team can win while having one.

Jimmy Graham was a beast and looks like the second coming of Antonio Gates. Darren Sproles continues to be absurdly impressive. And Drew Brees threw some interceptions. But overall, this game was not very memorable. Let’s do this…

The Jaguars ground crew also had an off day

I loved when Brees tried to score late in the 4th quarter with the game already in the bag. Brees thought he was hit late and, after a small scuffle with both teams, went deep to Devery Henderson on the next play. I always love sticking it to the opponent, and this play would have been perfect if Henderson didn’t step out of bounds. As a fan, it’s always more fun when your team just trounces their opponent.

I criticized Sean Payton in week one for his play calling, but he’ll never be as bad as Jack Del Rio was on Sunday. The Saints secondary has been suspect for most of the season, but I have no idea what he was thinking letting a rookie quarterback attempt 45 passes. Even Patrick Robinson, who has played poorly this year, intercepted a pass. Given the Saints have struggled against the run, I expected a steady does of Maurice Jones-Drew. Saints fans should thank Del Rio for giving his star running back only 11 carries. The Jags might as well fire him now.

My Jaguars fan friend (that rules them out as my favorite team) summed the game up with the word ‘mismatch.’ I disagree. These teams aren’t on the same level. This doesn’t create a mismatch but instead leaves the Jags outmatched. And that meant the Saints could walk to a boring victory on Sunday.

Next week should be more interesting as the Saints head to Carolina to take on the Panthers and Cam Newton. Newton’s been airing it out this season, so this should be a good test for the Saints secondary.

A win is a win, I guess, even if the game is boring to watch.
