April has seen the New Orleans Saints enter a period of unusual quiet. With the current impasse in labor negotiations between the owners and players association, players have been unseasonably absent from any type of off-season team activities at 5800 Airline Drive.
However, the end of this month offers the promise of renewed feelings of gridiron glory with the addition of a new crop of Bless You Boys. The 2011 NFL Draft is officially now in countdown mode, with 25 days remaining.
The Saints will be calling upon the 2011 draft class to help them once again be in that number on February 5, 2012 in Indianapolis. At present, the Saints have six draft picks with which to replenish their depth chart.
While the Saints are sure to have specific needs in mind, their draft positioning will also impact the decision-making process for Mickey Loomis and Co. As always, the Saints are sure to be resourceful in maximizing the value of their picks. The march towards the 2011 season starts now, so stay tuned for more updates.
