Unbelievable- with 5:29 in 4th, it was 107-91 ! And bullet head Jason Terry is gonna foul Murray shooting a 3 as time expires.Un freakin believable.

all you can do is laugh at this point. team sends out the playoff emails and everything and immediately collapsed
The Bucks are the Pelicans of the East except they don't have injuries as an excuse.
Last week I was fairly confident we were making the playoffs. Now I don't know what's going to happen.
Worst time to go on a 3 game losing streak.
pels playoff odds down to 64%. denver up to 33%. clips 18%
Its getting a little tight around the collar.
estimated denver point spreads remaining:
nuggets -4 vs. pacers
nuggets -5.5 vs. wolves
nuggets +4.5 @ clips
nuggets -2 vs blazers
nuggets +3.5 @ wolves
basically, they could easily win or lose any of those. 5 tough games.
pelicans' remaining spreads look more like this:
pelicans -11.5 vs. grizz
pelicans -7 @ suns
pelicans +7 @ warriors
pelicans +4.5 @ clips
pelicans -1 vs spurs
pels have the 2 highest probability games, a couple tossups, and the toughest game
just from a mathematical standpoint, it would be unlikely for denver to win more than we do over these last 5. next 2 games are legit must wins. then probably just gotta win 1 of the last 3.... but if we continue playing like we did today, AD will be watching the playoffs from his couch again
Jamal Murray may have just saved the Nuggets season with this athletic steal and drawn foul.

He went to the line three times and hit all of them to tie this game with 2 seconds left. He is 21. #Nuggets pic.twitter.com/nTRBLoZk92
nice job bucks
I’m very disappointed in the pelicans. What’s wrong with AD? He’s just not the same. Is it that ankle injury? He’s not playing aggressive enough.
We are in serious trouble. Minny, Denver and Jazz all have the tiebreaker. Spurs will probably have tiebreaker as well. If we win the next 2 I still won’t be relaxed. We really need to win 4 out of 5.

Playing with AD hurt changes everything. We could finish last 5 by going 1-4. PHX and Memphis have nothing to lose. SPURS are looking invincible. GSW is better than us and even with injuries they should beat us. CLIPPERS will be playing with urgency and desperation if they have a chance to get 8th seed.
We have to get Memphis, PHX and Clippers. If we do that and get lucky and beat spurs I will be shocked

I've been saying for awhile now that I have us at 46 wins with potentially being 45. I expected us to go 500 or sub 500 to finish out the season after that 10 game win streak.
I think 45 wins *might* get us in but it will be very close and it might not be enough. If we get 46 wins I think we get a spot. That would basically require Denver to go undefeated or maybe only lose 1 game to end the season and I don't think they do that.
42 had a good write up on how our magic number currently is 4. If we win 4 of our last 5 we are guaranteed a spot no matter what, so 47 wins.
If I am looking at it correctly...If we go 3-2 over the last 5...Nuggets have to go 4-1(they own tiebreaker)...Their schedule is tuff and I don't see them winning more then 3 games. Clippers would have to win out in this scenario...I see them losing one game. I agree...Our magic number is winning 3 games of the 5 which would be 46 wins on the year...We need help from other teams if we are at 45 wins. I would not be so worried if Milwaukee would not of screwed up that win last night against Nuggets.
Ok good. That's what I thought but I hadn't checked Denver's remaining games in a week or so.
47 wins we are guaranteed no matter what. 46 wins we aren't "guaranteed" but odds are really good in our favor.
45 wins is where it starts getting sketchy and we start needing some help from other teams.
thanks for nothing pacers
Don't forget when counting your magic numbers, the Nuggets play the Wolves twice. If Denver gets their magic number it will likely be by knocking them off both games. Utah plays Portland and GS.....those two teams won't be going all out but they are still tough.
In other words, there are WAY more variables in play that favor us. We just need to knock down our games. Let the chips fall.
And that whole silly argument about spreads is....just weird. Let the man post his spreads.
Or woman. However you identify.
Half a game out. Gulp
Pelicans playoff odds down to 63%. Nuggets up to 41%. If we somehow lose tomorrow, they pass us
A sound assessment.
Let's hope the new shaven look snaps Niko out of his shooting slump. Fresh start
Gotta win tonight. Win tonight. Win vs PHX. Then get 2-3 more wins...
We have a few major problems. Minny, Denver, OKC, Utah all own tiebreaker against us. Spurs will too if we lose to them again.
If we can win 4-5 and one of those wins is against the SPURS I think we could get 5th or 6th seed. We have to finish with 47-48 wins to get a decent seed. We really can’t afford to screw this up. We’ve come this far. It’s time to finish STRONG!!!!!

That's good to know. I hadn't paid attention to OKC's tiebreaker but with how bunched we are that could be handy.
Also now that I'm thinking about it, can't the Spurs only tie us if they win the next game meaning they can't own the tiebreaker with us? They are fighting to keep us from owning the tiebreaker over them.
We will get in if we win 3 games . It will be great to win the next 3 , plus either Golden State or the Spurs.
Lakers beat the Spurs.
Realistically I could see us splitting the next 4. GS owns us even without Curry.
Will the Lakers streak and knock the Jazz and the Wolves down a game?... I'm suddenly a fan. I had a blast watching that young team last night. Let's go Lakers!
Pop loses 2 in a row to inferior teams at the end of the season in a tight playoff race... Still Coach of the Year candidate.
Gentry loses 4 games to playoff teams ranked higher than us, after a 10 game win streak (tied for longest in team history) and a 4 game win streak, while trying to piece together a roster that has sustained the largest amount of injuries in the entire league, and is only half a game back from the Spurs... Should be fired immediately everything is his fault.
It's a weird phenomenon. The Spurs have been without Kawhi all season, but have otherwise not had to deal with masses of injury (guys have missed games or been out at times but San Antonio sit somewhere in the middle of the pack for games lost due to injury) and Pop is getting hailed as a genius (which he is, in fairness) for getting this short-handed team to a playoff spot.
Meanwhile, Gentry is being lambasted daily for his work, yet we're only 0.5 of a game behind San Antonio despite easily leading the league in games lost due to injury; we've lost over 325 games due to injury compared to San Antonio's 175-ish.
If anything, those stats imply that Gentry has done a brilliant job.
Edit: the only other teams to have at least 250 injury lost games this year are LAC, Phoenix, Memphis, and Dallas. That means we are the only team with at least that many games to even be in firm playoff contention. The nearest Western Conference playoff team in terms of injuries lost is Utah, who have lost about 225. Over 100 less than us.
I know, right!!?? I almost don't even need to post anymore, because we are pretty much 100% in agreement on our assessments (other than Cousins getting fouled on the last shot of Atlanta game). and you always beat me to the punch, which is fine for my lazy ******!
Such is the life of an NBA coach.....I guess you forgot what happened to George Karl after being named NBA Coach of The Year in 2013 season and winning 57 games for the Nuggets
Now that was a travesty. With all due respect Gentry is not even close to having that type of season and injuries are part of the game in any sport.
But it shows how not just winning is going to guarantee a coach's job. We have no clue what kind of relationship Gentry has with Loomis or even Demps.
In Gentry's case he has no feathers (playoff appearances) in his cap so it is imperative he makes it to the playoffs, if even as an 8th seed. The Pelicans
will have a hard time putting butts in the seats next season under the same regime with no playoff appearance to show for this season. Believe me
upper management knows it.

Instant Gritzzzzzz
This news makes me a lot happier than it should....
Instant Grits has been a favorite of mine since he was here last year. Irrational love for a player, yeah probably so, but I don't care.
At best he is a combo guard. When we cut him while Rondo was injured we really needed more of a true PG. Now I think we are alright with him as a combo. I see he and Ian as pretty similar players.
We've kicked the tires on Drew a bit now and he just doesn't quiet have it.
