With mass substitutions, the game speeds up for everyone because of the limited playing time. Everyone wants to make the most of what time they can get.
Further: of the 13 players who played tonight, starter, Melli played the least and another starter, Okafor played just three minutes more than he did.
This is ridiculous!!!

I've said it since the season began, and so have many others: a 'real' NBA rotation is 8-10 men deep. Not 11+
It's difficult to get people in rhythm, to allow them to develop chemistry, and to optimise each other's strengths when they're playing for 3 minutes at a time before there's subs, and either they sit, or they have to adjust to a new set of teammates again. If you do that every three minutes, that's a recipe for discombobulation, and that's what we've got. This goes double for the defense, where chemistry and trust are even more important than on offense.
This is why before the season started, all of the podcasters and bloggers were talking about who was going to have to miss minutes when the rotation eventually narrows down.
Unfortunately, Gentry has decided that actually, it would be best if everyone missed minutes, because the rotation is going to stay at 13 men. It's stupid. -

Seems clear as day the guys who need run are Ingram, Jrue, NAW, Frank, Hayes, Okafor, Kenny, Favors, and Hart.
JJ, Zo, and Melli aren’t doing anything with their minutes sadly. -

That's 9 men. When Zion comes back, you add him that's 10. That's the upper end of a normal rotation.

This was a huge weakness last year for Zo as well which I have mentioned a couple times, and I was hoping he'd improve, but he still becomes a passive paperweight in the half court, and lacks any creativity or assertiveness as a ball handler in that regard.
Its like full court or nothing with him.
The plus side is that his 3 ball is noticely improved despite even having more attempts per game. BUT, even his improved percentage is still not high enough to warrant over 6 attempts per game with the other better shooters we have, and does not make up for his shortcomings and inability to collapse the defense and kick out in the half court like Frank, NAW, Jrue, BI, Hart, and Zion can do.
Like, you are the starting PG and you are gonna let all those guys be essentially better than you at creating plays in the half court? C'mon dude.
