Borrego has a chance to show competence or is the roster just bad?
Borrego Pels watch is now
Curry 2-11 9 points and Pels get rocked
Borrego debut -grade = Willie bad
I think it's a bit harsh to blame Borrego for that loss. Transition offence was attroicious and easily cost this team in excess of 10+ points. Any semi competitent team would have made those opportunities not to mention all of those turnovers around mid court, or even that jump ball where Trey tapped it back and Missi was just clueless and cost us a layup. Those mistakes were amateurish even for the Pels and shouldn't attributed to poor coaching. One thing I will say Moody going off for 7 3's in the first quarter is definitley on the coaching staff.
Zion back
Missi to the bench and Queen starting at Center
Monster game by Queen 30 pts and 9 rebounds
On the Nuggets side Peyton Watson had 32 points..
I am wondering Is Derik Queen a better player than Zion? Queen is a freakish athlete and has so many facets to his game. He hits from long, He drives to the paint , he blocks, he defends, makes steals, Passes are so good the team made sure he got the ball as the point. Is there really any further discussion needed?
If Darvin Ham is on Dumars radar this would be a step backwards.
If Queen can stay on the court he will be more valuable than Zion based on the paying customer
Queen has very interesting passing ability .
Strong first half against Dallas
Of all the things wrong with this franchise, continuing to get fooled by the muse that is Zion Williamson is the most damning.

Zion has a lot of talent
But zero hunger. He hasn’t had it since he was drafted here
New leader in time will be fears or queen
This team has interesting pieces
Missi/Queen is a nice center duo
Missi when you want more defense and Queen on offense
Zion is the big question
Guess he is not washed

Let's put the tiniest guy in to make the inbound pass. Coaching blunders
On brand
Have to win that game on your home court
And the crowd looks very good tonight
This franchise is a joke Zion being held out, dude is 25 let him play.
Well,
Turns out https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1995963386677645765 He is down again
Worst team in the NBA. Nets destroying these dudes
Queen ,Fears and Murphy are the keepers on this team
Best win in years
Coaching was A1 today, benching Zion and keeping him there was the game changer. Throwing the double at KD was a pleasant surprise.
Time to move Zion. He is useless here. Yesterday showed that. We are fine without him. Hooray for Borrego for keeping him on the bench. On that note Willie thought he deserved more time. https://andscape.com/features/former...ans-community/
IDK what the defensive okay calling was against the Cavs where you always leave a shooter wide open, whatever it is they need to scrap it.
Bad coaching decisions is starting to show it's ugly head.
With Poole for every good pay he gives you he gives you 5 bad ones in return.
Jose suspended 2 games.
The NBA is suspending New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado for two games and Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams for one game after their fight Saturday night, sources tell ESPN.

What are we paying Jordan Poole again? So far more waste of money. However Bey may have been a good pick up.
Will we win again? At least we got that lottery pick. Oh no Joe didn’t :hihi:
This thread just keeps on giving.
"So maybe Willie Green is not the problem?"
"Is Jordan Poole not good?"
"Maybe the problems with Zion go beyond just his health?"
"Is Joe Dumars a terrible GM?"
I feel like I've had to argue these points insistently before the season even began but now that the season is almost half way over people finally see.
If you want to jump ahead go ahead and accept the other conclusions I'll help you out.
A- Like it or not, there is no short term fix here. The team is so deeply screwed that it is going to take many years to climb out of this hole. This has to be accepted in order to make the other moves.
B- Gale is not paying for a top-tier coach, GM, or players. She wants to invest enough that season ticket holders pay to put their butts in the seats, that's it. The only way the team succeeds with her as an owner is in spite of, not because of her. Selling the team is priority number 1.
C- Because we're in it for the long-haul you have to choose either
1- surround your developing players with other unproven players to give them as much responsibility and room for growth as possible or
2- surround them with players who "play the right way" to establish good habits. Ultimately the answer is probably a combination of both but doing the latter on a shoestring budget from a team that hasn't proved anything in the last decade is a tough road.
I look at players like Jordan Poole and see how there is the positive that at least someone like Fears isn't having to feel like he has to take every shot because there is a player on the floor who will but the risk is that Fears looks at Poole and decides that is how he should play. Ultimately it's a delicate balance and bringing in those "play the right way" players can help with establishing a winning culture but you don't want star players who take away from the developing ones. Again, seems tricky but that should go into the calculus for who to bring in. Every decision moving forward should be around building a new team around what seems to be two promising young players.
D- Zion is a distraction and should be gone ASAP. Get him the CP3 treatment if you need to. He will only hinder our development moving forward and we should move him at anything that isn't a negative.
After that, we can accept that outside something extraordinary we're looking at a 4 year time frame to maybe being good enough to win a playoff series. That will be 2030 and in that time the Pelicans will have won 2 playoff series in 28 seasons in a league where over half the teams make the playoffs.
Hard to find a worse set of transactions in ONE off-season than the Pacers trade, Wizards trade, Hawks trade. That's before we get to the minor but still harmful misses in Looney and Hawkins option. Truly an all-time bad executive stretch in just a few short months.

I'd fire borrego at this point, this is not acceptable. Zion is useless under 2 min nobody gonna let you go left. It's almost A Ben Simmons mental thing with Zion refusing to shoot.
The Pels are actually playing pretty good basketball now that they have almost everyone back.
I love the defensive intensity that Borrego demands from his players.
I like the starting 5 for the last 2 games!
Zion is living up to his draft position, Murphy III is a budding All Star. The Bey trade is a steal, DQ is playing better with each game especially on D, and Jones is a defensive wall & team leader!
The bench which is being led by Missi has also been very good! Missi is showing the Pels FO that they will be making a bad mistake by trading him!
The Pels should remove the interim tag from his title!
Amazing how much better this team is when Poole is “DNP”
Team is still very bad
