Well, we do now.
This thread is specifically for reporting, discussing, and judging free agency this year. Hopefully it's not as boring as the trade deadline was!
FA starts in less than an hour so I thought it a fitting time to open up the thread.

The Pelicans are one of only two teams in NBA history who have never paid the luxury tax. We're not paying it until we're a title contender, at least - and yet, how often do teams become title teams without paying the tax?
It's the old conundrum. Basically, if you're going to be cheap, don't buy an NBA team.
Free agent guard Gabe Vincent has agreed on a three-year, $33 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Vincent’s agent, Bill Neff, negotiated the new deal for a tremendous undrafted success story.
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 30, 2023
CHEAP??????
What's cheap about 'giving'...'gifting'...'throwing' $ 197mm at a four year veteran who has played a total of 114 games and never sniffed the playoffs? It's so easy to call Gayle Benson cheap when it ain't your money.
Also, probably the team is the Seattle Sonics and not the New Orleans Pelicans if she didn't own the team.

Can someone get in touch with Herb via his flip phone or his pager or his fax machine or whatever he uses and get him to agree to a new deal?

Jones declined his option to sign a long-term deal with Pels. pic.twitter.com/7r0r212hWZ

Hey! Just as predicted!
4 more years of Herb!
The good news: Herb is back and that's a very good contract value. He's going to be outproducing his contract pretty much immediately.
The bad news: That's probably it for our entire offseason now, from Griff. I'd be pretty surprised if anything else really happened.
Either way - no hardcap yet for the Pelicans. They retain the MLE for other uses should they need it.

Watch now for cost cutting moves
This is where we're at right now. Gotta cut some salary so you imagine the obvious place is Temple but there's also the possibility of a trade involving people like JV, Kira, Naji, etc. Let's see how this goes.
Free agent Josh Richardson has agreed on a two-year deal with the Miami Heat, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Richardson returns to the franchise that drafted him in 2015.
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) July 1, 2023
Oh no, not Pelicans legend Josh Richardson
No player options on Brandon, Zion, and now Herb. This is extremely valuable to the team side and future players will have a tough time trying to negotiate for one.

Looking at the Trey deal in particular
