Had no choice to salvage this season indeed. Love it. Let's get this show on the road. Thank god Asik is gone.
Get it done Dell! We need that kind off trade to make a playoffs. Make it happend.
Linking this just for the numbers. How does this affect our money situation since Mirotic is a bit more expensive? Obviously 2 years is better than 3 years, but what are the chances that that 2 mil extra could hinder anything?

Is that the only move we're making? Not a bad move at all, mind you. But I was really, really hoping for Kemba, against my better judgement.
Thanks alot Dell, now i won't be getting any work done for the rest of the day. I am super pumped about this potential move if true.
At least we know he can take a punch like a champ!
YESSS!!
Asik (worst contract int he NBA)
1st round pick (around 15-19)
FOR
Mirotic (young PF with 16.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 43% shooting for 3 this season. 2 years left for 12M/year)
Good move Dell.
What a steal! I would have given up a 1st rounder just to move Asik.. getting Mirotic in return is awesome. Landed the best 3 point shooting big in the NBA who is just 26 years old. I'm still excited for this season where getting some playoff experience will be a step in the right direction. Going into next season we will be in good shape if Boogie resigns. We are a starting wing and scoring bench guard away from being a serious contender. Someone like Lou Williams could really take this team to another level.
Now if we can make another move without shipping out Moore I'd be happy.
I am wondering if there is more to the trade.. We have to be under the hard cap and we are taking in 1.9M and only have 1.2M. Is this the main part of the deal and we have some fillers to make it all work? Hopefully some protection on the 1st round pick too. Overall good trade by Dell. This helps us a lot. I am so happy that I will never see Asik play in a Pels uniform again.
Still haven't processed the whole getting Mirotic in the deal.. I'm still processing I never ever have to see Omar "stone hands" Asik in a Pels uniform again!! Man he was so terrible!!
Hope that we've got a better deal now...
But that's never the case.
Well crap
New Orleans and Chicago had a deal for Nikola Mirotic, but it's fallen apart for now, league sources tell ESPN.

Damn. Maybe they wanted our first, and we demanded that they take Asik in return and thats what caused the falling apart?
Could be the Mirotic is the hold up.
Mirotic is blocking the trade over guaranteeing next season
That was...quick.
Essentially, Mirotic has control over his future with a trade. He can't be sure that New Orleans will pick up his $12.5M option next season -- unless Chicago does it for him prior to completing the trade. It is understandable why Mirotic isn't eager to cost himself that $12.5M.

Just when you thought we did something good, it falls through #PelsLife
Chicago and New Orleans don't need Mirotic's permission to make trade should his $12.5M team option in 2018-19 get guaranteed with a trade. Without that salary guaranteed prior to finalizing trade, teams need Mirotic to agree. Otherwise, Mirotic likely becomes a rental for Pels.

There is still hope, we would be smart to guarantee him that $12.5m, the guy would gel well with AD and Boogie. Nice 3 big rotation.
Doesn't Chicago have to guarantee the option, THEN do the trade? If that's the case, then it's on them. Not us.
Very confusing, why would we not guarantee that?
Is Demps really considering not resigning him and truly considering throwing away a first for a half season rental?
The Pels could and can not find a better big with upside to back up a recovering Boogie and oft banged up Davis.
It’s not my first choice of move but it would a shame if this falls apart because Demps won’t guanrantee what would be a pretty moveable contract.
Hahahahahahahahaha #PelsLife
If Demps blows this, just don’t even show up to work on February 9th! Lol okay that might’ve been extreme. But come on.
I agree with all. If 12.5 is the holdup, this would be a done deal
Ok, so reading a couple of credible Chicago beat writers on Twitter like K.C. Johnson, the word is the talks are ongoing, in advanced stages, but the option hasn’t been picked up by the Bulls and there seems be a bit of a salary hiccup. We may need to send someone else out in the trade to make it work.
Tony Allen?
To clarify — The #Pelicans Mirotic deal is still on the table. Just comes down to that $12.5 million option and adding another player or two to balance the salaries of the deal.

Could be a smoke screen.
Showing the other teams what our first and Asik could fetch.
There needs to be more than just Asik and Mirotic going out salary wise.
Tony or Alexis. Keep Moore and Miller please.
Would be nice if we could make it a larger deal (i.e. send Allen and Nelson and get back Grant or add Ajinca and get back Holiday, but that is dreaming).
