Thanks for this new thread. Tweets from http://hoopshype.com/rumors/
- Magic extends QO to Fournier
- KD will first meet with GS
- Saric has an appx $800k buyout (Sixers can contribute up to 650k) if he wants to join the 6ers
- Marc Stein reporting the Wiz are targeting Batum as their top guy
- I thought this was pretty foul that someone would say this about Ryno... but:
Quote:
Exec on Ryan Anderson: “He is still seen as that ideal stretch-four, but he can’t stay healthy and even when he is healthy, he does not defend.
Marc Stein reporting the Jazz have Trey Burke on the trade block.
Celtics and Hawks have meetings set with Dwight Howard.
Knicks are expected to go after bazemore:

with melo, it doesn't make any sense
So Frazier has his QO.Quote:
Justin Verrier: The Pelicans tendered Tim Frazier a qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent. His QO is worth $1,180,431.
Praying for Batum or Parsons

In other news, Joel Myers just reported on NBA Radio that the NY Knicks are interested in Eric Gordon.
I still think Burke could be a good backup PG in this league. I think Frazier can give you everything Burke does though, so I don't see a good reason to go that route.
Burke might be cheaper than Frazier. He's younger and under team control. Plus he's been a better pro than Frazier to this point.
Pelicans mention-

One possible free agent target at shooting guard for the Knicks is Kent Bazemore — New York has “heavy interest” in the Atlanta wing, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post. However, Berman cautions that the Knicks may not have the resources to aggressively pursue Bazemore, since he figures to be seeking $16MM+ per year, and New York will have to address multiple positions in free agency. Per Berman’s source, Bazemore isn’t ruling out suitors like the Knicks and Pelicans, but his preference is to re-sign with the Hawks, if possible.

Rivers looking at big pay raise, maybe $8 million per season, increase from the $3.3 million he made last season with Clippers, per source.

His dad would be my only guess that would be foolish enough to give him that much. Good luck.
Rivers is the reason I have a lot of trouble believing in potential. Dude is 23 and is pretty much exactly the same as he was year 2 for us.

All this Knicks talk, how much room do they even have?
So they can come pretty close to giving Amare another max after everyone else passes right?
You're right. My point was that Cleve has a few guys eating the majority of their cap (LBJ, Love, Kyrie and Tristan), and they have a bunch of guys on small-money deals. But they did destroy the cap to do it.
NYK would have the same thing going except they won't be able to kill their cap without doing some sign/trades. They'd still need to sign guys to min deals to fill their roster.
Regardless of how you feel about the talent distribution, the money was spread out, at least relative to a 3 max, 9 min model. That was the point I was making. You had players like Mozgov and JR getting 5m, Frye getting 8m, Shumpert getting 10m, etc. on top of 3 max contracts and TT's huge extension. It adds up quickly. Gilbert paid for continuity over adherence to the cap.
If he is really seriously thinking about leaving Charlotte, I hope we are doing our best to line up some salary dumps to get in on that chase.Quote:
BA_Turner: Free agent small forward Nicolas Batum mulling over options, including talking with Lakers, source. He's flying from Paris to US tomorrow.
He is the only high end FA I would feel comfortable throwing big money at.
We have to have a leg up on the Lakers right?
I can't wait for Friday to get here. This should really start hearing up over the next 36 hours.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Anderson and Gordon sign somewhere else. A part of me still fears that Dell is going to bring them both back, even though it's a 99.9% done deal that they're both moving on. Still, when it happens, I'm going to feel so relieved. I wish RA all the best wherever he goes. I couldn't care less about Gordon.
We can't strike out on all the SF!! I just want one that will play. I rank mine like (realistic options)
1. Batum
2. Parsons
3. Bazemore
4. Barnes
5. Crabbe
Other than those I want to grab Dudley and someone else to platoon.

I keep seeing the Crabbe as a SF thing, not sure why.
Crabbe is a guard. He has not shown to this point that he is anything more than a pure scoring guard, and mostly a shooter at that. Think Afflalo, Lamb, Kevin Martin, etc. That's his world. Doesn't rebound, defense is still very suspect. He played SF 17% of the time last year on a team with 2 much smaller starting guards, so Portland clearly felt the same way.
Drafting Hield makes Crabbe and his ridiculous contract-to-be a no-go for us.
Parsons is damaged goods. As much as the pundits talk about Ryno... Parsons has injuries that are worse. And he wants a max deal.
