I'm 90% sure we will see a good bit of overhaul. I can't see how Tavares Montgomery Williams is retained. Not following that epic 4th quarter collapse. So he's gone.
If Demps is retained, Asik will probably also return. But we need to get a hoss regardless of if we keep Asik or not. A real banger in the paint. Maybe recall Patric Young over the summer, see how he looks but just as a long shot. Bring in someone in the vein of a Carl Landry or Kevin Seraphin. A big body that will mix it up and grab boards, but has some movement ability to them.
I think Gordon, Tyreke, or Anderson might be moved.
Bring in someone like Danny Green if we can swing it.
Carroll would be heavenly if he hasn't already peaked, that is. Only player in the draft I'd want really is Karl Anthony-Townes, but I haven't given this draft much thought yet. I wait till after the NFL one before I jump to the NBA one.
I would like Monty gone but I think he will be back. If he is back we have to get a top notch assistant coach. I also wouldn't mind Gerald Green to start at the 3.
Monty: Yes for one more year. As long as this team continues an upward trajectory, we should let him keep working. Especially in light of how much the players have bonded with him.
I wouldn't mind seeing us do something to add to our SF rotation, but I believe the resurgence of Pondexter has made that less of a need than it was. Mostly, I don't want to see us do something big and stupid to take us out of the running for the 2016 free agency.
I'll add if Monty returns, I won't be against it. I think he's gone because that's what I think will actually happen, not because I necessarily want it to happen.
Please no more Asik! Evans and Gordon can also go. Danny Green would be a great pickup!
Can someone please tell
Me what tyreke did well , did u see his averages this post season
And effort ? He has to go
I just hope we don't overpay for Asik like we did for Gordon.
I'd leave the team the way it is for now and hope for limited injuries.
With limited injuries I really think this team finishes in the top 5 next season with a season together under their belt.
Jrue/Cole
Gordon/Evans
Q-Pon/Cunningham
Davis/Anderson
Asik/Ajinca
.....and then see what we need once Gordon and Anderson come off the cap in 2016/17.
2015/16 isn't the season to move too many pieces as there are no realistic players available to partner with AD like there will be in 2016/17.
By 2017.....it wouldn't surprise me if only Davis is the same player on this team we saw tonight.
-Dump Gordon
-Upgrade SF, QPon to the bench
-Bring back Cole
-Try and upgrade at C.. We need a defensive presence like Asik, but hopefully someone not as negative on offense. I would probably take Koufos over Omer
-New coach
Tyreke was asked to played a position that's wasn't his and was asked to run a offense Something he hasn't done his whole career and he's bashed for it.
I'd like to see our team make some moves to gain us better raw basketball intelligence. Veteran presence has proven to be a boost for us. We need better reliability. That being said, I think we need to consider moving Tyreke and/or Ryno. Even package them in a trade for a good SF and possibly a late first. If we do move Reke, we might want to look for some decent backcourt depth.
I do want to retain as much of our core as possible, because chemistry is key and I think this team has bonded well. Over the past few years Gordon has finally come around and seems to have found his place in the lineup. I'd like to keep him around. I see Holiday as our starting point guard moving forward. He and Cole make a formidable duo and we've only seen a couple of months of it.
Asik I'm ambivalent about. I don't know how much better we can do right now. Maybe see if we can bring back Robin Lopez for another go. He's had a good run in Portland and I believe he's unrestricted.
As others have over the last few days, I think Monty has taken this team as far as he can. His presence has been valuable to the team's camaraderie and chemistry, but doesn't have the driven instinct to push any further. I just don't see it. He'd make a good assistant coach. I'd love to see Ollie at the helm, but I don't know how likely that is.
I agree with MM. I bring all top 12 back and bring in some MLE player of choice. Continuity is far more important this summer.
Assuming Gordon opts in.
tyreke isn't a starter or 6th man, he's a chess piece u can use anywhere.
It's certainly a safe way to play it. I'd say it's not worth breaking the bank for Asik, but if he can be brought back at what everyone is expecting, he should be brought back. I think we play it safe this offseason, keep the continuity next season, and see what holes we need to fill when Gordon comes off the books in 2016.
I want Monty gone. Now is the offseason to do it if any. The west will be much more top heavy next year as I see POR, MEM, DAL all dropping off. So I think if we stick with Monty now we'll be stuck with him.
Tyreke should go too.
I know Davis loves these guys but winning will cure that. Let Asik walk. Monty, Tyreke and Asik aren't meant for success in the modern NBA.
WE NEED CONSISTENCY OUT OF OUR TEAM!
I just don't think Tyreke should run our starting offense. He's a good player when he plays within himself, but we can't run a fluid offense with his iso plays and poor decisions. He's impulsive and will toss up the ball on a whim sometimes. If we do keep him, and don't upgrade at the 3, I'd consider playing him at starting SF with Jrue, Gordon, AD and Asik (or another good center).
- Find replacement over Asik
- Jrue & Ryan get Healthy
- Tyreke works on his shooting and IQ
- Sign a vet like Vince Carter
- AD gets in the gym and learn post moves
- Find a sf
- look for new coach
I can't wait until Asik is off this team. I don't care how good his defense or rebounding is, when he is on the court offensively we are playing 4 vs 5.
Bye, Jimmer.
Really tho, need to trade one of jrue, reke or gordon for a sf. nowhere near enough balance on this team
I won't be mad to see Tyreke get traded.
I will be mad if we resign Asik.
I only want Monty to leave if we have a shot to grab someone like Tom Thibodeau or his caliber.
I don't believe Monty is an elite coach but he certainly isn't a bad coach. What his specialty is to me is culture. He's built a great culture amongst these guys and that is extremely undervalued by fans in a small market. It's how you keep guys on your team or wanting to play on your team.
u offered nothing but nonsense
the idea reke can help lead this team to around a 25-15 record at pg & push us into the playoffs as the 2nd best player next to AD for that entire stretch, playing well on both sides of the ball, then gets injured in this series & wasnt supposed to play game 2 but pushed thru his injury, obviously wasnt 100% & now a few clowns think hes a bench player suggests the lack of basketball IQ lies w/ u.
Run it back. Continuity is your offseason addition and it helps more than any player we can realistically get would
The reason reke should no longer be on the team is not because he doesn't run the offense well, that's not his job, he's not supposed to be a point guard. The reason I want him gone and believe that he will be gone is because he has no jumper whatsoever and kills the spacing of the team. We need shooters the guard position. It's no wonder the best teams in the league are good shooting teams.
I also believe Eric Gordon will be traded. It's easier to trade an expiring contract than a guy that has two years 30 mil left on his contract (obviously).
A healthy Jrue and a more experienced AD are what you have to look forward to next season (if your running it back with the same unit) because everyone else is old and set in their ways
A 6th man role bench player could be better than the guy who starts in his spot. It just means tht he plays better ball when he is the dominant on ball guy on the floor. (See clippers and Jamal Crawford)
This team lacks ball movement when he is on the floor because he has trouble impacting the game other than with the ball in his hands. Yes he had a great run end of season starting at point, but that doesn't change what I've previously stated.
Are you by any chance Tyrekes brother? (Silkyslim)
They don't change their individual skill sets, but playing with the same guys day in and day out has so much value. You trust guys more on defense, you know what they want to do on offense and where they need the ball, etc. Continuity is a real thing and all the great teams have it. So many of the guys on this team have played less than 1500 total mins together and/or haven;t even had a training camp together.
If Tyreke is willing to be a 6th man I'd probably keep him, probably keep Ryno, but they aren't off limits. Gordon is a good player but cuts into the cap too much. Asik I lean no.
Monty is a average at best
I'm in the continuity group. Just what are the freaking odds they have to endure crazy injuries again next year?
Just AD alone adding more bulk and a post game would be worth 10 more wins with this team as is (healthy). Maybe get us an assistant coach that can drill movement on offense, and maybe upgrade the C spot with better hands. Think Robin Lopez type. Minor tweaks.
If we keep Reke and Ryno, I say we bring them both off the bench. Ryno can stretch the floor for Reke, and Cole can run the second unit offense. I think a healthy Jrue makes Gordon a better player on the floor, and they could be an excellent starting backcourt after further recovery and conditioning over the offseason. I still want to upgrade at SF, but our options are limited. Tobias Harris would be nice, if even possible, but I see Orlando matching for him.
I also like RoLo over Asik.
To me, our guys have little to no trade value this summer. Run it back unless you get a good offer and you are in a great position to make a huge deal in February if the opportunity presents itself. In the meantime, get off to a fast start with a group that is bound to grow with more time together. At worst, they take another step forward and guys come off the books giving you a ton of money and the moniker of "team of the future" going into the summer of 2016. That will get you some FA's
I would say get rid of tyreke and gain continuity and try to upgrade C and SF.
People underestimate this offseason because we made the playoffs we can do it again..
Next year is gonna be harder, with a healthy OKC and i say our chances of making it next season is quite low unless we have a big offseason
This year per 36 Tyreke averaged 18-7-6 while shooting 45% front he field and 31% from 3 while posting a career best defensive rating. He along with AD carried us into the playoffs and without him no way we make it. And the dude is a freaking warrior and battled thru injuries and we wanna get rid of him.
We don't even make the playoffs this year without Tyreke. He is the only player it seems that stayed healthy most of this season and even played when not. I am biased for Tyreke because i am University of Memphis alum; but really he was second best player the majority of this year.
His ability to get to the rim is something we severely lacked when we had CP3.
