Wow that's gonna be huge.
Happy someone finally got a pic. You would think the team would be doing a timeline sort of thing on the website. Or nola.com would be going out there and snapping some pics.
Would have been cool to have web cams set up like they did during construction of the Laburge casino on BR. Amazing way to be non-productive at work. lol..
How is this supposed to rank in comparison to the rest of the NBA?
Is it next to the Saints facility? The pic is to small for my eyes. If so, I think the Saints players would use the Pelicans facility also.
55,000 sq feet. Biggest in the NBA for sure.
Yeah you know actually looking at that picture hard, it's most certainly not in that giant empty soccer field :hihi:
Looks to be in fact near the Saints facility. Awesome.
Would they really need to though? Saints facility has already been mentioned as one of the premier facilities in the NFL. Saints facility also not so long got an expansion.

This is beyond exciting. I can't wait for free agents to see the changes we're making.
New offices next to Saints offices. New Practice Facility next to Saints Practice Facility. Adjacent. Not across the street.
Could be. Speaking of cafeteria, there's a pic of the Saints cafeteria here. Click on 'view slideshow'.

Monty on new NOLA practice facility: "It's going to be unlike any other place in sports, where you have football and basketball (together)."
My ticket rep actually asked me if I wanted to go see the progress on the practice facility a few months ago. Didn't even know it had started. I asked her why it wasn't being advertised much. She couldn't answer that but said that they have been asked to promote it to the fans as much as possible.
Basically she said that the Saints and Hornets are going to share the ticket/sales office, cafeteria and parking and the new building will be practice court(s), lockers, coaches/management offices. I think they are going to have seperate workout center.
The site of the building is between the Saints and the church on top of the old Voodoo practice field.
They still haven't figured out what to do with the soccer field yet. My opinion is Benson is going to make some kind of deal with JP to build some sort of hotel/restaurant.
I thought it was closer to being finished. But I guess that means they are going to work fast to get it done by July.
The lead contractor's website says September.
I hope there will be fan tours and use this to our full advantage :):D
Yea thats pretty big dude. It always looks small while its being built / empty.
When i was building my house i'd go in there with just the studs up and be like...this is small as hell.
Well, it's finished now....and yea..it aint that small.
Any *new* construction has to be better than the Alario Center right?
It's 50,000 square feet. The playing portion (without end zones) of a football field is 360 x 160 feet, which is 57,600 square feet. (you math majors out there might wanna check that for me..lol)

First look at New Orleans Pelicans' under-construction practice facility wows Coach Monty Williams
More in link.Quote:
The building might have been nothing more than four bare walls, unfinished concrete flooring and walls and bare steel studs, dangling electrical lines and heating and air conditioning ducts, but for New Orleans Pelicans Coach Monty Williams it had the look of a "monumental blessing."
The cacophony of rising scissor lifts beeping their presence amidst the pounding of hammers and whirring of saws forced Williams to speak loudly Wednesday afternoon as he got his first look, along with the news media, of the Pelicans' under-construction offices and practice facilities adjacent to the New Orleans Saints' Airline Drive practice digs.
Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson called the 50,000 square foot facility, taking over the footprint of what once was headquarters and practice site for Benson's one-time Arena Football League team the VooDoo, unprecedented in professional sports.
And Williams was marveling at the prospects of swapping strategy talk with Saints Coach Sean Payton or seeing Anthony Davis lunching with Drew Brees in the campus cafeteria.
"To see where we were just a year ago to now, it's amazing to see how all of this has come together and what Mr. Benson has been able to do in a short period of time," Williams said. "We're just really thankful for all of this and where it's going to take our program. There's no other place like this in the world.
"You think about campuses that have football and basketball and a cafeteria on the same grounds. What Mr. B has been able to do in this short period of time is just amazing. When you walk through, because you've been in so many other players, you can envision what it's going to be like to have our own spot where we can finally just leave your shoes and leave stuff for a long time and not having to worry about Big Shot (equipment manager David Jovanovich) taking it downtown.

“It’s a monumental blessing,” said Williams, who walked inside the structure for the first time since construction began. “To see where we were just a year ago to now, it’s amazing to see how all of this has come together and what Mr. Benson has been able to do in a short period of time. I’m just really thankful for all of this, and where this is going to take our program. When you have a facility like this, couple with ownership, that’s going to be tremendous, to be able to tell (free agents) that there are no holes here. We have everything that all the players want – a facility where they can get better, a place where you can hang your hat permanently, a great city and a team that’s going to continue to get better every single year.”
Apparently the Cavs new facility is also 50,000 sq ft but their's costed about $25 million.

I don't know how much the Blazers' facility costs but it's about 34,000 sq ft.
The Bulls' new facility will be about 55,000 sq ft.
Now I heard August.
for a team quite high up in the lottery... this is certainly 1 very very interesting offseason with a lot of reason to be optimistic
Here's a horrible mark up of where the facilities are on the complex:

for those wondering.
Looks very nice. It is where the Voodoo practice facility used to be at when Benson owned the team. Call it Benson University now.

Jen Hale also said today that Monty repeated that FA's are calling him telling him not to forget about them.
This is a key offseason in determining the team's future success
This has to factor into the allure of our team. Having a big top of the line, classy training facility right next to a Super Bowl caliber football organization? I mean, what a great pitch.
"Play for the Pelicans. Have lunch with Drew Brees."
I have always been skeptical of the allure of a practice facility, but I know that Monty and other basketball guys know more than me. I hope he's right and top players will be lining up to be a part of our facility and team.
You can use your own experiences. Would you wanna work for a company where all the computers run Windows ME? The printer will occasionally ejaculate ink on your favorite slacks? And is located in Westwego? Even if they have great food and the personnel is nice, it matters if you can have all the better things AND have great food and nice personnel.
