Houston is the closest. They suck, plus their games aren't televised in NOLA.
The Zephrys are a part of the Marlins which has the worst owner ever. So no to them.
I'm gonna say Texas Rangers. Excellent franchise and their games will be shown on Fox Sports New Orleans. Go with the Rangers.
Drop a vote on the poll so it counts!
I adopted the Rays because they are from "the south" and not a team that would seem like i am jumping on a bandwagon (like say yankees or sox)
My brain won't allow me to root for Texas teams. Can't do it.
Voted.
None?
Astros even though they are terrible
I grew up rooting for the Phillies because of Boy Meets World. But in the city I mostly see Cardinals and Red Sox fans.
Cards fan here. However I am in gulfport
GO CUBS!
Go Reds!
Boo Cubs....and Cardinals...and Brewers....and Pirates. Good riddance to Astros
None really.
I like the Rays idea. Are they up for adoption?
Whoever has the most LSU players.
So weird, I've been thinking about this for weeks now. I've decided to root for the Indians. They are a team with tons of former glory. Currently they are rebuilding, with tons of young player, new guys brought in through free agency and a cool fan base. Same colors as the pels, great logo. No where near southern related so I know its random, but they feel like the hornets and how the saints used to feel, so im going with them

I'm a Royals fan.
Ive been a huge Braves fan my whole life. I guess everyone here hates them, but they arent the douchfest of an organization like the Atlanta Falcons.
I have been a Yankees fan since i was 4. I decided that because the Yankees were from NEW York, that somehow they were connected to NEW Orleans at least in spirit. However, that was the logic of a 4 year old so take it with a grain of salt. Either way, I support the Yankees 100 percent, and have affection for the Braves because my uncle moved to Atlanta, and I also have affection for the Rangers because I moved to Texas when I was younger and my first professional sports experience was at the Ballpark in Arlington
I seriously hate watching or attending anything that involves MLB. I'd rather watch tennis. lol
Nationals fan. I don't think New Orleans will ever have a consensus favorite team.
I've only been to one game, Cubs vs Cards in Wrigley, and it was amazing. I enjoyed it so much, and I'm not even really a baseball fan. I would love to catch a game in Yankee Stadium (I saw Jay Z and Eminem do a show there, but no baseball game) or Fenway.
Rangers. Ronald Washington--the manager--is a born and raised New Orleanian. Think he still lives here.
I got reasons to also follow the Blue Jays...which has failed so far.
Blue Jays! Super team!
I root for the Cubs because of WGN, I love watching there games during the summer
Cubs
Go bravos
Go braves- my favorite team. I watched on TBS while growing up. They are a small market team like New Orleans. I like rooting for small market teams. Braves, hornets (pelicans) , saints
The correct answer is without a doubt the Cubs.
I follow the Rangers due to Ron Washington being from New Orleans
Trick question.
The answer is none, because Baseball is super boring.
Adopting the Nationals. They're successful rebuilding situation reminds me of ours.
White Sox (southside reminiscent of parts of New Orleans)
Yankees fan for about 14 years now. Started going to the games when I moved here. Don't really like any other NY franchises though.
Braves fan here. I know over here in Baton Rouge, the Astros seem to have the "hometown" label for most people. Personally, I can't root for them.
Here's the podcast where we determine the 3 finalists, if anyone's looking for listenin' material:

False. Braves payroll is in the $90 million range and has been a middle of the pack payroll team for several years since Liberty Media purchased them from Ted Turner.
The Braves win with solid player development, especially pitchers, with the occassional trade of stockpiled assets to bring in a star. The reason they were able to acquire the Uptons this offseason was largely due to Chipper coming off the books and trading Prado who was due a pricey arbitration number.
All that being said (if you haven't already guessed!), I've been a Braves fan since the early Dale Murphy years, thanks in large part to TBS telecasts.

I support the Atlanta Braves, I don't know how many people in NoLa support the Braves but every summer when I would go to Atlanta on vacation my uncle would always take me to a few Braves games.
So I grew up fond of them and I still am a fan of the Braves today.
It's quite interesting hearing everyone's reasons. I've only been to one professional baseball game (2 summers ago in NY for the Yankees vs Rays). Fun game but I was more interested in the experience when I was in New York.
The Braves are going to be solid this year especially with the addition of the Upton brothers
