Just reported on ESPN Hornets are in serious negotiations for dale davis and then some. Other players/consideration would probably be involved
The Golden State Warriors are in serious discussions with the New Orleans Hornets to acquire Baron Davis before Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline, league sources told ESPN.com.
The Warriors have the expiring contract of Dale Davis to build a package around, but it's believed that other players from both teams would be involved -- as well as future draft considerations going to the Hornets -- to convince New Orleans to part with its former All-Star guard.

Yeah, that's about right.
I could see Dunleavy added, that'll go pretty good w/ our trend of white boys! lol
I think this is one of two deals on the table, but I think a deal with an EC team may be ahead of it on the burner...
If we trade BD to GS, we will be short at PG. Keep that in mind. Dale Davis' deal isn't enough to complete the deal...
Dale Davis??
Unless we're trading Magloire too, I don't get it.
If we get Golden State's 1st rounder, Dunleavy and Speedy Claxton, let's do it!
ew Orleans trades: SF Lee Nailon (15.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.7 apg in 31.7 minutes)
PG Baron Davis (19.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.3 apg in 33.8 minutes)
SF George Lynch (4.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.3 apg in 23.7 minutes)
New Orleans receives: SF Mike Dunleavy (12.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 32.9 minutes)
PG Speedy Claxton (13.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 6.1 apg in 32.6 minutes)
C Dale Davis (3.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -10.3 ppg, -0.1 rpg, and -2.0 apg.
Golden State trades: SF Mike Dunleavy (12.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 32.9 minutes)
PG Speedy Claxton (13.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 6.1 apg in 32.6 minutes)
C Dale Davis (3.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.0 minutes)
Golden State receives: SF Lee Nailon (15.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.7 apg in 31.7 minutes)
PG Baron Davis (19.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.3 apg in 33.8 minutes)
SF George Lynch (4.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.3 apg in 23.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +10.3 ppg, +0.1 rpg, and +2.0 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Due to New Orleans and Golden State being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New Orleans and Golden State had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
+3 Chad504boy and PyroCross
That's one of the teams I've heard that's involved in the BD lottery
Tb!!!???
Sorry, but I'd rather get Mickael Pietrus (or Dunleavy), Dale Davis and their 05 1st rounder. If we get that sort of deal for Baron, we HAVE to do it.
I'm very curious which EC team harvey's talking about. I'm assuming its not toronto. Possibly Philly?
Dale Davis comes off the books after this season. This would clear a lot of cap room for us. Dale Davis has a "crazy big" contract.
I still think another deal might pop up. We'll see.
A chance to get two picks in the top 5 or 6.... HELL YEAH! Do It Do It
Well, Dale Davis is an expiring contract so I sort of get it now. I just wish we could get more than expiring contract for B-Fizzle, but if we get that and a high 1st rounder, I guess I'm happy.
2 picks in probably the top 6 plus a bunch of cap room to sign 2 or 3 FA's and we can be a playoff team in a year or 2.
New Orleans trades: PG Baron Davis (19.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.3 apg in 33.8 minutes)
New Orleans receives: SF Mike Dunleavy (12.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 32.9 minutes)
C Dale Davis (3.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -3.7 ppg, +6.0 rpg, and -4.1 apg.
Golden State trades: SF Mike Dunleavy (12.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 32.9 minutes)
C Dale Davis (3.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.0 minutes)
Golden State receives: PG Baron Davis (19.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.3 apg in 33.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +3.7 ppg, -6.0 rpg, and +4.1 apg.

I just hope its something like these deals. Where the Hornets only lose BD and dead weight, while picking up young prospects and contracts expiring this year.
With Davis coming off the books, B-fiz gone, DW and DA's contracts gone, and probably Mash and Rogers traded and contracts gone, we are going to have a lot of money.
How do adding draft picks affect those trades being accepted cap wise and all?
:happy2: :1pcheer:  :jump: :wave2:Quote:

Another one: Dale Davis, 2005 1st rounder, Christian Laettner's contract ($5M contract right there, ends this year) and Mickael Pietrus for Lee Nailon, Jackson Vroman and Baron Davis.
Throw Dunleavy in if we throw West.
Can't trade Vroman in a packaged deal.
Yeah, but remember when the Saints had like 14 million in cap space last year? They did squat with it.
I'm not comparing :bflip: to :3stooges: (Haz/Loom/Benson), but just because we have money doesn't mean we'll get anything good. Besides, this was a bad year to clear money and get high draft picks.
Seems like Dunleavy & Speedy would fit in pretty well w/Byron's system...not sure about whoever else would come as filler
Getting draft picks... might not be a great year but its better than never. And just cause we have cap space doesn't mean we have to spend it for the sake of spending it this offseason. Maybe we'll be able to SIGN STROMILE SWIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
did anyone actually read the article on espn.com....Was it just me or did Marc Stein just add a paragraph to his article that was posted about BD feeling unwanted in NO that was on espn.com yesterday?
I don't think more than 3 or 4 players (total) would be involved in this deal. I don't see all of these 4 for 4 deals happening.
Harvey, only one deal can happen. Its impossible for all 4 to happen sillY!
I hope the EC team is Atlanta. Vescey mentioned them as in the hunt. If they re-sign Walker (which they should), then Al Harrington is a bit redundant. He could be the main course in a BD trade.
I can see a Dale Davis + Christian Laettner's contract/Mickael Pietrus/Mike Dunleavy (either or) + 2005 1st rounder for Baron Davis + Lee Nailon.
LV: Yeah, you're right.
Let me get this straight. Trading Baron Davis for Dale "75-year-old" Davis, Mike "I was only productive at Duke" Dunleavy, and draft pick or two??? Very obvious that this would be a "dump Baron for cap room" move. And with the bad luck and horrendous past our professional teams in New Orleans have had concerning bringing in "Superstar Free Agents" over the years, I seriously doubt our Front Office will be able to compete with the rest of the NBA. No matter what anyone says, "Superstars" do want to go to some what of a possible winning organization. Although money is what makes the world turn, I just have a horrible feeling that no one is going to sign here no matter what contracts we are capable of offering. So for every true Hornets fan, I desperately hope the Hornets wait until the offseason for a SERIOUS TRADE OFFER for BD, or simply don't move him at all.
They do that a lot on ESPN, they add stuff on to their stories as other plots develop.Quote:

Ball: Tell me who'll want Baron Davis. It won't make a difference if it's now or in the offseason, just that his stock will decrease more.
I never said anything about New Jersey. I don't know anything about a deal with them...Quote:

You can take him and let Dickau go, or you are free to pass on him if there is a big man you really like.
Let's take this out further. So he doesn't get moved this season. Given his history this year, let's assume that he doesn't play all of the remaining games, but we'll give him credit for playing some of them (since he has played some thus far). Now it's the end of the season. Now what? Why would we get a serious trade offer at the end of the season v. now? We are not the desperate team right now because we are not in contention for anything. What is going to change at the end of the season to make BD more attractive to other teams ? The fact that he might get well? That's how this season started. I suspect the Hornets started to look into dealing him when his agent came out and said that it might be best for Baron to move on. I don't see the difference between now or the end of the season. I don't expect him to turn it around over the next 7 weeks or so. And then if we don't deal him at all, what then? What will we have? Do we have a guy who we hope comes back and plays healthy, just like we have been hoping every year? Will his attitude change for the better? I don't see any of that happening. I wish I did. I am not anti-BD, but reality is what it is. Where would you go? What's your vision?Quote:

Baron and Lynch for Speedy, Dale Davis, and Mickael Pietrus works on realgm.com.
I would prefer Pietrus to Dunleavy personally. I'm not impressed with Dunleavy's game.
If we can deal Baron and Mash for Davis and Robinson we will have LOADS of money to spend.
There are no FAs out there worth signing to MAX deals imo this summer. But with the cap room, you can re-sign Dickau for a reasonable price, extend Nachbar and maybe get a couple of mid-level guys while still being majorly under the cap.
Then in 06 you go after one of the big boys.
What is Harrington's contract like? He might be a nice fit considering the poor guy has played with the league's wort PGs this season and that ball hog Walker. I just don't want him if he's got big money for too long.
The key to either deal is getting either Atlanta's or the Warriors' No. 1. I doubt it will be this year if we get it though but probably a few years down the road considering they are both awful.
The good news about this is that in a few years, they will still be awful, so the pick will be nice.
this trade also works btw:
New Orleans trades: PG Baron Davis (19.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.3 apg in 33.8 minutes)
SF George Lynch (4.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.3 apg in 23.7 minutes)
New Orleans receives: C Dale Davis (3.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.0 minutes)
PG Derek Fisher (12.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.1 apg in 29.8 minutes)
SG Mickael Pietrus (8.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.2 apg in 19.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -0.2 ppg, +1.0 rpg, and -3.7 apg.
Golden State trades: C Dale Davis (3.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.0 minutes)
PG Derek Fisher (12.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.1 apg in 29.8 minutes)
SG Mickael Pietrus (8.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.2 apg in 19.4 minutes)
Golden State receives: PG Baron Davis (19.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.3 apg in 33.8 minutes)
SF George Lynch (4.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.3 apg in 23.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.2 ppg, -1.0 rpg, and +3.7 apg.
NO Fisher! I despise him for that .4 second game winning shot!
Derek Fisher??? And his 6+ million dollar a year deal for 5 more years??? No way!

I liked Mullin as a player but he's the worst GM in the NBA. Well, Babcock is a close second.
He signed Fisher and freaking Foyle to huge deals. Why?
Please please do not take on Fisher's contract.
Cann we please get Jason Richardson????
Relax, I doubt Fisher would be part of the deal. It should be somewhat obvious that a trade with GS would probably be for the point of clearing cap space. I just don't see the Hornets bringing on more bad contracts. Fisher is not involved. $.03
If we tell you we'd have to...Quote:
