Lakers vs Pelicans Gameday Thread 4/14/2024
-
i hope the road warriors pelicans show up here today and twolves beat the suns so i can have wonderful sunday...
go pels..
-
A win tonight would be huge.
Obviously a win is always useful, but before the season I had ''make a real playoff spot, not a play-in'' as a must for this year. Obviously we're teetering and the West is super difficult this year, even more so than most years in some ways, but a win tonight would be huge for that.
But it's also against the Lakers, who our most public humiliation of the season belonged to in the IST, and it would cap off a 5 game win streak to catapult into the post-season.
And it would hit 50 wins for the second time in franchise history. Would truly mark a change in fortunes, imo.
-
The Nance for JV experiment has not work all year. No evidence for it at all. Hate it. And now you're syphoning confidence from your starting center on the game before the play-offs.
-
Four fouls on the Pels 0 on the Lakers.
Welcome to playoff basketball.
-
The NbA is a waste of time. Always letting the script play out. GetCurry, Lebron, and KD in at all costs.
-
Not contesting shots, PHX up 30, Pels sleeping…. Try better NbA.

No blame for the pels being terrible? The pels can end the script by winning at home
-
Zion needs to step up, scared of lebronc
-
-
A lack of a rim protecting big is very evident when they play the Lakers
-
The Pels aren’t even the same team we been seeing. They are walking up and down the court, as if they know the script.

So did the pelicans get extra money for this?

Nah they got told that it’s time to get Lebron, KD, and Steph in the playoffs and they have had a valiant effort, so thanks for their service. Kings and Pels ******** on as usual. I knew it all along when they started to keep blowing home games when they could have taken the fourth seed. They fell right into this spot so they can make the final game look important and blow it. They are walking up and down the court tonight. Meanwhile, Minny with the number one defense is playing just like the Pels.

Lebron layup after layup
Pelicsns don't have any rim protection

The pels aren't going to face any penalties if they win so they need to go win the game. Of course the NBA wants that, but the Pels don't need to agree with them
-
They're going to come back after the break and let Bron try to dunk again.
-
Lakers too long for the Pels. Their height negates good looks even from 3 and they keep Zion from driving.
-
Lebron at 6’9” with handle negates shorter Jones and Daniels defense.
-
Game over. Need Warriors to beat Lakers in 9-10 and in case Pels lose 7-8 to Kings
-
Damn fans left at halftime :(

The lakers is the 8 seed we playing the lakers again this tuesday
-
This is pretty embarrassing for Green and the Pels on national TV and at
home. The Pels have to be the worst home team
in the NBA.

Doesn’t Sacramento have tiebreaker with Lakers?

And they will get rolled the same way.

Fed up I think the Lakers will tank next game to avoid the Nuggets 2nd seed
-
Bringing BI in, starting, after missing a month and he'd only done 1v1s in practice really threw a spanner in the works, huh? Pacing all off, guys not knowing how to play with each other. All the chemistry that had been building up playing the way we had been recently went down the drain.
Tough to overcome that. Team let themselves down. Inefficient from Zion, lacklustre overall on the boards for most of the team in the first half which is when the lead opened up. Willie relying on Nance even when the matchups don't really call for it continues to be annoying. Defensive intensity we've seen lately just gone (partly because of how it's being called, in fairness).
Refs weren't great but they weren't the deciding factor in this one. Internal problems.
-
Well that was f'ing miserable. The cherry on top was being surrounded on all sides by the world's worst Faker fans you could imagine. Seriously, imagine in your head the most stereotypically obnoxious blowhard Laker fan and then multiply it by 200. Then put that person directly behind you during a 2 hour blowout loss. Geaux Pels.

And risk not making the playoffs at all? I don't think so.
It was really disheartening to see all of the yellow jerseys in the crowd, especially after the season we've had. Maybe NOLA doesn't deserve a team.
-
Pels haven't earned the fans respect, that's what today told me. Big game and Pels fans can't fill it up.
Lakers want OKC..it's risky, but I'm expecting a tank job vs Pels

what you are talking about? It was totally packed. Of course there were Laker fans, but that was obviously going to be the case especially on a FQF weekend.
Also i'm sorry there's zero chance the Lakers would tank and be forced to beat Golden State to make the playoffs. Not happening.

Quote from the reporter who wrote the article - after receiving a mountain of ridicule over his ridiculous suggestion.
Harrison Faigen
@hmfaigen
Like I said in the post, there is a 0% chance they do it (at least not intentionally)
-
Pels are a high school team at home anyway. Lakers probably couldn?t throw the game if they wanted.Unless they sit AD…
-
i think very strange to start a guy after being out with injury. Especially when team on a roll. He was always going to get minutes but straight back into starting lineup I think that was a mistake.
-
Tanking the play-in game is the funniest thing ive ever heard lol.
-
After very good road trip They play so bad at home …
Again … No defence , no heart - pathetic effort.
BIG disappointed.
-
-
It will be the Pels vs Warriors Friday night for the eighth seed.
So disappointing!

I also think the Lakers have struggled this year against the Warriors and Kings, so no chance would they risk tanking against us.
-
It?s a disastrous result. I don?t blame the players for losing this specific game. It?s just the culmination of mistakes over the year that have led us to this point. It will be a very difficult road at this point. We have to make it out of the first round, but we made it as difficult as possible. More than it needed to be.

BI absolutely should not have featured big minutes in this one. That is a boneheaded error on the part of our staff. He just got back from a lengthy injury and the team was on a roll.
