October 26th - New Orleans Pelicans vs Brooklyn Nets - 3-0
I'm starting this game thread pretty early because I feel like if I don't do it now, I'll forget. It be that way sometimes.
Anyway! At this point, we are the only team in the Western Conference without a number in the loss column! That's pretty exciting, as it means that after most teams have played at least 4 games, we are the number 1 seed! Obviously this is still ridiculously early in the season, but a strong start is never something you can afford to dismiss. Our offensive rating, assists per game, and pace are all up there, as well as our field goal percentage, and despite high scores from opponents, our defense has looked like it can switch on at any moment to smother the other team.
Tonights matchup, to make it 4-0 and match the Nuggets for the best start in the West this season, is the Brooklyn Nets. Lowkey, the Nets are going to have a good season. They're at .500 to start the season, and they have plenty of solid players on their roster now. This should be a win, as we're definitely better, but it feels like the kind of trap game that we could have lost in seasons past. Luckily, from what we saw vs the Clippers, this Pelicans team doesn't let opponents run away with them: hopefully we'll see that intensity and grit continue.
So let's head back onto the court and look to make it 4-0 on the season, thrashing the Nets. Hopefully we put them away early so the key guys can get some rest for the Jazz game tomorrow!
