Harrison Barnes

If the Warriors decide to pay Green then I doubt they will be able to afford Barnes and if they can it would probably kill them with adding any valuable pieces to that team. Is he a FA after next season? I would love to have him but don't know what it would take in a trade or his price in FA. I think he is the next Jimmy Butler just a little different. What are everyone's feelings about him and what do you think it would cost to trade for him or his price tag? Would he be near the top of your list for SFs behind Durant? I think he would be a perfect fit here and can develop into a legit 20 PPG scorer. Holiday/Barnes/Davis would be a nice core to build around if you ask me.

I agree that he has a lot of untapped potential and I would love to get him. He's not a free agent until next summer though and, even then, he's a RFA.

Well next summer we have lots of space and I don't think the Warriors could or would come close to matching an offer we can make. Unless they don't keep Green then he won't be a Warrior next year. He deserves 36 mins per game not 28. I'm telling you next Butler. He's a better rebounder, better shooting, and near the same as a passer. His defense isn't far behind either while he is younger and around the same points in their careers he has played much better. He has a very good relatinship with Gentry and I don't think we get our SF of the future this off season and behind Durant he has to be at the top of our list. He's a perfect 3 and D with potential to be a star. I have a feeling he will be a high priority and target for this team.

Yes. I've been a Barnes fan coming out of college. He's progressing every year. He'd make a great 3 for our team. Some on here thought and swore he was gonna be garbage when he was a rookie and even after last year. Kid can play.

another perfect fit, ultra athletic 3 and D that can rebound.

Yea I liked him a lot also. I knew he needed some time to develop but I think by the time we can get him he will be ready to break out and play like a star. He has his shot down pat so now it's just working on his defensive technique and ball handling. He is athletically gifted as any SF in the NBA and only 23 years old. Barnes and Holiday would be the perfect 2A and 2B to Davis. I don't know who we would get at SG but I would be comfortable having Holiday, Pondexter, and Barnes running the 1,2,3 for this team. Some great defense and 3 point shooting. He likes Gentry a lot and I'm sure he would want to come here for increased minutes while playing with AD.

I wouldn't of trusted Barnes under Monty but under Gentry I absolutely would. Had Mark Jackson still been coaching he would probably still look like a bust.

I actually think Barnes could become a good target for us.

What if we could resign EG to a reasonable contract and still have enough to sign Barnes? I have no idea if that's possible, since I have no idea what EG or Barnes will be worth next summer. That's when the cap makes that huge spike and Gordon will be making significantly less, so who knows. I've been looking forward to next summer for awhile now, since that's when we'll finally have the money to make a big splash in FA. I'd be happy with those two moves. That would give us a well rounded starting 5 that fit well in Gentrys scheme and we'd still have Tyreke, Ryno, Cole and Q-Pon coming off the bench. Again, don't know if that's gonna be possible, but a guy can dream.

I’d rather Batum in 2015/16.
He will be an UFA.

It's definitely possible to get both along with a center. The cap will go up and I think Gordon will command good $ but nothing ridiculous. Even if he has a great season no way teams offer a substantial amount of $. He will definitely get paid and I would love to bring him back. I have never been a Gordon hater but always a realist with him. If the guy his healthy then he provides some very good value and in Gentrys system he could break out. I don't see why he would really want to leave either especially since we are going to have Gentry who he is a perfect fit in his scheme and someone I'm sure that wanted him and he liked when he signed with the Suns. I would love to have Holiday, Gordon, and Barnes as the starting 3 for those positions along with Cole and Pondexter as the backups. I was just saying I would have no problem with QPon as the starter if we got Barnes but I think we could do better. Ideally QPon will be one of our top bench guys with good minutes and injury insurance. You need guys like him if you plan on contending for championships. The more I think about it the more I feel like Barnes will be our top priority to sign next offseason. Maybe Dell can pull something crazy and get him in a trade.

I love Batum and he was one of my top choices but I would take Barnes over him. Only 23 years old and can be here as long as Davis will be. He's on way better pace to be better than Batum especially at this same time in their careers. Barnes has no injury issues while being a superior athlete and better 3 point shooter. I think he will be as good if not better then Butler and I will take that over Batum.

Barnes is like the extra receiver on a team that has a great year because the defense is so focused on the other guy. If we can create that environment great, but not if we expect consistent production coming through him.

Yea because we don't have Anthony Davis who I'm sure won't take any attention away from Barnes. Guards do not draw defenders away nearly as much as a dominant big man like Davis. Guards usually have a big man stepping out on them because of pick and rolls with SFs rarely being in this situation and don't leave their man often to help. One thing SFs do leave their man for is when they are trying to help to crowd the big man in return leave the 3 open. It's not like we have nobody at the guard position either.

Either way Barnes is a great 3 point shooter, rebounder, and plays very good defense. He's only 23 and with his skill set now would be averaging around 16-18 ppg on our team considering he would be playing 34-36 mpg. Last year in the playoffs he averaged 36 mpg being a go to guy and the result was 16 ppg, 6.4 rebounds, and this was over a 12 game sample size. His game has developed a lot since then and he is on pace to be a better player then Jimmy Butler who everyone here would pay the max for. With the realistic SFs we will have a shot at he is one of the best and hands down has the most upside of all of them. I would sign him over Carrol and Batum who I like a lot. If Carrol, Batum, and Butler can be key guys on their teams then Barnes can definitely be as good if not better with a guy like Davis who none of them have. Just go look at the first 4 years of some of those guys and they don't even compare. He is playing as good as Carrol now who is in season 8 and basically took him 6 seasons to even crack the lineup.

He can play with Davis for the next decade or more and has top 5 SF ability. I think he will be one of our top targets especially with Gentry here. I respect if people don't think so but to me he has shown all of the ability to be a 2nd or 3rd option. In GS he is basically their #3 go to guy for offense.

No telling what we do with Asik, Gordon, Reke, or Ajinca but I'm sure we either keep or improve on them. This is a championship roster in a year or 2 if you ask me especially with another key guy shuffling and swapping some out I just can't predict for who now.
Starters: Holiday/Gordon/Barnes/Davis/Asik
Bench: Cole/Evans/Pondexter/Anderson/Ajinca

QPon shot the 3 very well this year but Barnes has proven to be a better 3 shooter and much more consistent. QPon is a very good 3 and D guy who we saw this year but doesn't offer much else. Barnes is a scorer with so much potential. No comparison there I just don't see how you could think that.

If he hasn't been able to express his potential in how many? 4 years in the league? And under a head coach like kerr? I wonder why should he *express* it now with us. Potential is utterly useless if the one that has it doesn't actually use it.

Haha what are you taking about? He is a starter and basically the #3 scoring option on a NBA finals team with a top offense and defense. I guess Jimmy Butler is in the same boat since it took him 4 years to breakout. Barnes is in year 3 by the way. O yea and Carrol didn't see 20+ mpg until season 6 and took until season 8 to finally break out. Kawhi Leonard was really just a D guy his first 2 years and broke out in the playoffs year 3 and his stats have not been much different then Barnes at the same point in careers. Batums #s look basically the same with more minutes. I guess we are getting Durant so no reason to think about the bust Barnes. I guess he hasn't expressed that he is good yet though but the other guys with identical stats with being 2 twice as long or more in the league have. He only averaged 16 ppg with 6 rebounds in last years playoffs with a guy like Jackson but he would be a waste because playing very good now with loads of potential to be even better means nothing.

I too thought the QPon to Barnes comparison was crazy, but then looking it over they actually seem pretty similar. Barnes is the better rebounder but other than that their numbers were remarkably close. Makes you realize how much of a steal QPon is on a 3m/yr deal.

Efficiency and rebounding stand out for me with Barnes. That and one guys is 23 who has had 1 year in a system and with a coaching staff that knows how to use him and our guy is 27 and is pretty much what he is with probably a bit more upside with a better offensive system.

What elevates Qpon is the value for performance ratio.

It would depend on the price but I like Harrison Barnes as a prospect again. And I think he is the inevitable causality of the Warriors paying Green.

QPon is a steal (and so is Cunningham). I have no problem running it back with the same SF unit as they are costing us so little, but by comparison of similarly paid peers, they are giving us so much more. Leave the SF spot alone, and focus on upgrading the 5.

Barnes has a nice game but something has just been lacking there mentally. There are long stretches where you easily forget he is in the game at all. If he would be more assertive he would be a great starter
