Good for him. Still #1 on my big board.
ya i think with this news no way he makes it to #6 now
He's got nothing but time. He won't see a court (practice) until like December.
he's going to be a better larry sanders
noel posted a 81 defensive rating, that is insane. davis is great off the ball defender and noel is great on the ball.
I would love to get Noel. I have been a big fan of putting him next to Davis. Noel looks up to Davis and went to Kentucky to be just like him. I don't care how much Noel weighs he has the same frame as Dwight to put on lots of muscle. 2-3 years down the road we will have the most dominant big man tandem in the league on both sides of the ball. These 2 together would be downright scary!
cant wait for the draft
Let the Cavs take Len.
Let Orlando talk themselves into Burke
Let the Wizards play it safe with Porter.
Let Charlote and Phoenix fill their needs at SG
And let us get the closest thing the NBA will ever see to a Chandler/Ducan frontcourt.
Would be a fantastically fun scenario. No way Mickey Mouse passes on Noel tho.
Also, is Noel still #5 on your big board?
If dude could just bulk up and keep putting on the muscle, dude will be a defensive monster.
Ben Wallace 2.0....that's not a bad thing at all.
The weight was never an issue, and I brought this up when he weighed lower than expected at the combine, but it was totally expected from me. When you have an injury like that, you lose most of that muscle, so you also lose a lot of weight. That's what happened to me when I injured my knee, and that weight comes back after you start lifting heavy again. It's no surprise at all that he's gained it back already.
That knee looks nasty. :( As for the weight, could just be water weight to improve his draft stock. It could easily fall back off afterwards. Especially when he starts to get more active basketball wise.
They stick some kind of pin or plate on that joint to keep stable? :(
Yeah that knee looks bad
I'm no medic, but putting almost 30 extra pounds onto a fresh surgically-repaired knee can't be a good thing.
But I wish the kid luck.
Please let him go #1, This guy has bust written all over him. JMO. If they go with another PF i'd rather Bennett.
So would you guys take Noel and stash him until next year if Burke, Porter and Len are off the board at #6?
I'd take Noel over anyone but porter if he's there and that'd be a long discussion as well.
Noel was on pace to break Anthony Davis' one year old block record for blocks in a season. He's slightly taller than AD at 6'11 and 3/4 with shoes and a basically identical wing spans.
This guy is not Ben Wallace offensively. Ben NEVER scored more than 10 points a game, and NEVER shot more than 50% FT's. In a 16 year career.
I think the Tyson Chandler comparison's are fair. Like Tyson, Noel was at 59% from the field. I think he'll be a very efficient player offensively and will know his limitations. And I think with practice, he'll probably get in the 60's from the FT line, but never great.
This team struggled because of it's defense last season. We could do a lot worse than getting the best defensive player in the draft. And I'll take 5 Anthony Davis type players.
Yup, that's exactly my point. With AD appearing to have much more of offensive game then what was orginally expected we can afford to take on a Chandler-like center who can patroll the paint. As long as we get a wing capable of scoring to offset Noel's one dimisional game.
That knee scares the sh*t out of me. Who ever drafts him should not even think about playing him till after all-star break at the earliest.
I'd love to get him. I'm patient, I could wait a hole year if necessary to see him play. There's no reason to rush his comeback.
