So really, y'all just gonna let me hold my breath?
I guess no one can come up with another player in the league in the "not worth more than $10m", but also worth more than a top 5 pick, category.

It doesn't really seem like you understand the counterargument. In a vaccum, Ryno is worth a top 5 pick. But moving him for one would retard the maturation phase of the team.Instead of having our core guys and moving forward, we would modify the core with a talent that A: isn't guaranteed to be better than Ryno and B: will need multiple years to develop. If Demps needs to win to remain on ownerships good side, as multiple sources indicate, moving in this direction would be counterintuitive. Get it? It has nothing to do with overvaluing, but everything to do with continuity and remaining on pace.
Hearing: Knicks have explored possibility of swapping Iman Shumpert for late first-round pick heading into Thursday's draft
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 23, 2014
Personally, I haven't seen him play and I'm just curious on what everyone else would think. I'm not saying we should trade for him just attempting to start a conversation. I also have questions. Can Shumpert play the 3? How good is his defense? He is strongly linked with the Thunder or was at the deadline
his defense is spectacular, the knicks played him at the 3 a lot but imo he's a pure 2, too small for a sf. I'm trying to think of a very quick, strong, athletic 3 and D shooting guard to compare him to.
But back to your question, he has gotten minute everywhere from PG, to SG, to SF, like when amare got hurt and melo had to move to the 4, but still his most natural position is SG on offense, and defending the opponents tops wing on defense. Hope that helps.
Sorry but I'm just trying to find out in what universe Ryan Anderson is worth a top 5 pick. I'd probably bet my life savings that if any gm in the top 5 said "hey dell I've got this top 5 pick for you for that pf over there that's coming off a career threatening injury" that dell would bust a load before he could agree.
I think it's pure speculation that Demps needs to win big this season to keep his job.
I also think it's absurd to think think Dell has settled on a core 4, even though they've only played a handful of games together.
Nothing happens in a vacuum. If Dell could trade Ryan Anderson as part of a deal to move into the top 5, I would think he's got additional moves planned this offseason to replace Ryan's shooting.
Hell, Channing Frye is available.
Spencer Hawes accomplishes 80% of what Ryno does on offense, but can defend centers.
You all are the ones placing this in "a vacuum"
...I've consistently said not to view it that way. Gotta consider that other moves can be made beside just acquiring a pick.
if someone offered me a top ten id send ryno despite knowing that he was the most lethal 3pt shooter in the league last year. Maybe it's all in my close-minded head, but I'm scared to death of having white dudes with bad backs on the squad. It makes me think of peja and byrd at the end of their careers
Tyreke
Jrue
PJ Tucker
AD
Marc Gasol
anyone like it?
99% chance we don't, I'm just saying if the grizz want to rebuild, which they should, we could trade ryno to the suns for 1 of their 3 first rounds picks and package that with a future 1st rounder for him.
suns 2014 1st rounder
pels 2015 1st rounder
for marc gasol
Would you do a S&T of PJ, 18, and a second for Anderson
Gasol is a beast, would instantly make us a playoff team. He makes a team better in alot of ways
Do a poll if you want consensus here. I've seen people argue that everyone outside of AD has been overpaid here at some point. I'm not even sure if AD is left out. If someone were to say they'd take Drummond over AD then that person is implying possibly that AD is overpaid because he shouldn't have went first overall.
Tyreke I don't think there is discussion about. The only way we get him is if we offer more than the Kings want to pay.
We overpaid Tyreke as far as his market value at the time. But by the start of next season, he wont even be in the top 80 of player salary and he is a top 50 player IMO. And once we get rid of Gordon, he could jump up to top 30 if he plays like he did at points last year.
With that contract declining, he could be one of the biggest bargains in the league in years 3 and 4
I don't see the Grizz fading Gasol right now (not until he and Z-Bo become less effective). They have one of the best front courts in the league so why mess with that for a couple of mid to later first round picks?
If they were smart, they would see the writing on the wall that this core cant come out of the West. Why wait for a unit to be uneffective before moving on? Why not sell high?
I agree that it would take more than marginal picks. If they could dump Prince and land a top 5-7 pick in a trade, I could see them moving Gasol and starting from scratch.
If the grizz are ok with making the playoffs and exiting early, then they can keep this core...if they truly want to win the title then i can't see how they can right now
They only need to tinker a bit with that lineup, and get some better depth, but that is a team that (while not built to win) is built to give people problems, and they do. Why the year before last they were in the conf. finals and got swept by a better team. Its not their front court thats the problem (maybe depth wise they could do better), but its their back court. I don't know why but I can't get behind Mike Conley being a legit top tier pg, like so many view him. He doesn't move the meter for me. If they could get into the top part of this draft and get a smart or an a Zach Lavine, they would be smart to do so, and improve that back court.
If they trade Gasol they are in rebuild mode, when they still have a few more years of their window being open (if they make moves to improve their backcourt).
But they dont have the flexibility to make moves. And yes, they did make the WCF last year, only because Westbrook got hurt. This year, we saw a more accurate representation of their ceiling - a team that can give a contender problems, but will ultimately lose. Some MLE guard or forward isnt gonna change that
How I wish we could give a contender problems...or make the playoffs. :(
This year they were injured going into the playoffs, and didn't have Z-Bo for game 7 against the Thunder in OKC. That is not an accurate depiction of who they are. They stay healthy during the season they aren't a 7 seed. They have Z-Bo in that one game, maybe they don't lose that series. Either way, not as bad a team as the picture paints.
It's like us, if we hadn't had so many injuries maybe we do squeeze out a few more wins and make the playoffs (at least that is the narrative around here). The players understand the system, and seem to know how to play together, what causes us to give us the benefit of the doubt but not the Grizz?
That said, I wonder how long this contract extension for Z-Bo is going to be. They would be crazy to handcuff themselves to him for another 5 years.
As of today I'm hearing for the right price the Cavs, Celtics, Lakers, Kings, Nuggets, Magic (12), & Suns willing to deal their lotto picks.

Not sure if this should go here or not
If a player Dell thinks is an ideal long term fit for this team is available at 6, I could see a deal with the Celtics going down.
Dell can find free agents to replace in the short term guys who we assume are a part of his vision for this team because they're currently on the roster. What Dell can't find is the perfect front court player to pair with AD on a rookie scale contract for the next 4 years. If that guy is there and Dell can trade to get him, I expect Dell to do that, then spend free agency replacing the skill set of whoever he gives up to do it.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind getting Saric if he falls and stashing him a couple years. Bring him in on his rookie deal when AD is on his second contract. He'd come in and (hopefully) be able to start/immediately impact the team (and would be relatively cheap for 4 years).
Supposedly boston loves rivers. Embiid at 6 anyone?
Dell would be gone inside a few months if he made such a move. It'd set us back quite a bit
I would not take Wallace's contract back. May be worse than Gordons.
So we should have wallace AND gordon on our paybook while giving away what would probably be a top 10 pick next year ryno and rivers for the rights to two rookies, one of which would probably be stashed for a year and another that would probably make a minuscule impact?
I hope dell is smarter than that.
Oh I thought he was expiring. Hell no then. No way would I want Wallace's deal AND Gordon's.
I don't think trading Rivers sets us back at all. So we're back to Ryan Anderson again.
I firmly believe that you can't say moving Ryan Anderson will set us back unless you know what Dell would do with 17, and what Dell's free agency plans are. You just can't do it. Dell could draft Vonleh and Cleanthony Early, sign Ariza for $19/3yrs, trade Pierre and Aminu to Brooklyn for Teletovic, and resign Morrow.
Couldn't that team compete for a playoff spot next season??
All I'm saying is you can't judge a draft day trade in a vacuum and assume the sky is falling.
What's this I'm hearing about us dangling Jrue Holiday for a pick? I haven't found anything on it, but someone said they have...
Could be nothing. Probably is nothing. But still...
