There are plenty 4th bigs out there, IMO. If we do it, we are trusting Withey and hopefully resigning Young.

This season got so dpressing so fast..
Not the point. If we subtract Withey or Ajinca from the roster we only have Ryno and Withey/Ajinca as backup bigs. You need more than that for depth just even because of our history with injuries. Asik as already missed what 3 games? We would have to resign Young or another big is all I'm saying.
When the story broke it was always with a 1st round included. We don't know which one of Phx 1st they were offering but it was for sure Green + 1st.
People here don't appreciate Ryno and undervalue him greatly because of the role he is forced into basically having to carry an entire bench almost singlehandedly.
He's viewed as a luxury and should be shipped out to "fix" our hole even if we have to sell low on him. I view him just the opposite. With Ryno we have a front court that can actually survive an injury. We already know Asik will never play 36mpg so there will always be enough minutes for him. But don't kill your only solid depth for a temporary fix at another position and then we end up super thin everywhere. Unless it is a worthwhile trade you hold onto him and then use the MLE and Bi-Annual this summer to fill holes.
But let's be realistic for a moment. GS isn't going to trade for Ryno. They can just be taken off the list. Boston? Not for what we need from them. Denver? Doubtful they do it either.
You are basically looking at The Pistons, the Suns, the Lakers, possibly Knicks Timberwolves or Charlotte as teams that would have a need for Ryno. Possibly a couple others. But those are kind of it. And even some of them have either already spent high draft picks on PFs or have nothing to offer us. Other teams either already have solid PFs or are purposely trying to be bad.
I think Ryno is more undervalued on here than overvalued. IMO Ryno would start of the majority of teams in the NBA. He would at least get 25mpg if not the starter.
I also don't get the "sell while high" point, as least right now. Efficiency wise he's having his worst season. I don't think it will stay that way but he's not playing his best yet.
You keep looking at the player by himself and aren't taking into account he will be an UNRESTRICTED free agent this summer. If he commands a big payday he can just walk. Ryno is on a longer contract which ends with him being a restricted FA, he gives you more than just shooting, he's younger, and there are far fewer stretch 4s in the game than a SG/SF who can only shoot.
Green is playing fine right now but you don't just give away Ryno for what would potentially be a rental to shore up a weak position for 8 months. That's why they offered the pick and we still turned them down.
Ryno gets far too much hate than deserved just because of how sucky our team is.
I would do that Knicks trade in a New York minuet. We would instantly have two credible players for our bench as opposed to one credible player (Jimmer) an also ran Ryno, and a bunch of scrubs.
Sarcasm about the bench/off
weren't the knicks one of the teams rumored to be very interested in Ryno this offseason?
And if they do? Who says they will have to? Both Hardaway and Shumpert have the size and athleticism to cover either the 2 or 3, so in the end you are looking at a stronger rotation.
If we get Cunningham we would benefit if we could trade Ryno for a starting SF. Cunningham would be a good bench player at PF or SF. We need a starting SF that can stretch the floor and play defense.
I see Hardaway as a sane version of JR Smith, and a younger version of Jammal Crawford. When he is on he is a damn flame thrower, but when he is off...well at least he is athletic? Adding Hardaway would be great for our young nucleus, and he could be a piece that you would build on.
Iman is another guy of interest. Since the injury he hasn't been as high flying, but his overall game is a c+, and c+ on this bench looks like an a+.
The triangle offense isn't for everyone, so just because you can't run it doesn't maks you an idiot, it just means that your time on a team running it is running short. I would welcome both of these guys with open arms.
